  • "Dorward Josh Windass, 31, is rumoured to be one of the multiple players keen on a departure from Sheffield Wednesday following issues with wage payments"

If available on a free due to not being paid he would be a great player to bring in. Subject to others leaving.

      • Rather impressed with our activity in the window thus far.
However still some notable areas need strengthening.
I am thinking particularly of a midfielder who drives forward. Something in the vein of say McGinn.
Without somebody like that, our hoped for better season, may stutter.

Modern managers don't seem to value "driving forward" , they prefer pissfarting around playing suicide balls across the backline and gradually inching up the pitch. I get the feeling any player who broke ranks and tried to burst forward would get fined...

Beyond that, if there is a weakness anywhere on the pitch I thought the solution is always Harvey Vale?

          • Would you guys have Isaac Hayden back?
Apparently Newcastle are willing to let him go.
Not sure how big a fee they would want can't be that high surely

Well he's a younger version of Colback who still hasn't left, or had the year option extended. If he leaves I'd be happy to have Hayden in the squad for his experience. But I cant see us paying a transfer fee for a 30yr old. If it's a nominal fee and sensible wages then it's an upgrade on Colback. Im not sure it will happen though as Im sure there'll be cheaper, younger options coming over from Julien's contacts soon enough. Ones with a potential resale option in the future.

              • Bright Osayi Samuel to Brum on a free transfer, would imagine wages would be sky high.

                • other clubs starting to spend big money

                  Birmingham
                  Derby
                  Norwich

                  all spending 5-10M on players

we desperately need Eze to be sold to be able to compete.

I wouldn't. Managed 90 minutes once last season for Portsmouth.

                    • Even if we sell Eze we will not be competing financially with the big teams in this division. We have a business model and need to stick to it. Best I can see is maybe £5m being released for 2-3 players who will be of right age, potential etc.

Splashing the cash has rarely worked for us in the past! Generally speaking am liking how club have done business last year or two. We are in a pretty good place for early July.

I would much prefer to give brum the finger and beat them with a team that costs a fraction of the price

Very rarely happens this day and age I'm sad to say. This thing about us spending Big is also a miff, in fact we did the opposite brought in loads of free transfers on enormous salaries. Only samba and Sandro were involving large fees but Harry's little black book did the damage.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

                          • Remy was £8 mill as was caulker and Leroy Fer

watford are also splashing a bit of cash too

we have to hope we don’t get left behind

                            • I dont think we'll do too much more business in the market. Maybe another central midfielder and striker if Kelman goes.

After Juliens comments on the difficulties of foreign players settling in last season, I took that to refer to Cellar. It seems he'll still be with us. I reckon we'll need four strikers with Frey already injured for the first friendly and Kolli being treated like he's made of glass.

If Julien likes Kelman then he should sign a new contract. If he won't, then sell him for good money now whilst his stock is high.
