They are in their last season of parachute money. If they win promotion back to Championship they will be skint again next season. They've already got rid of Carlton Morris but dunno if they got a fee for him?Originally posted by cross it Dave View PostIs that money coming from the parachute payments?
Today's BBC gossip:
Queens Park Rangers have received a bid from Luton Town for English striker Charlie Kelman. The 23-year-old was League One's highest scorer while on loan with Leyton Orient last season. (West London Sport), external
The Hoops may also see another of their young English attackers depart with a number of League One teams interested in a loan move for 22-year-old forward Alfie Lloyd. (West London Sport), external
In terms of replacements, Colchester United striker Samson Tovide, 21 has attracted the eye of QPR for a possible return to his home city. (West London Sport)

also why would we swap out a 23yr old striker who has scored 20+ in league one the previous year and loan out a 22 year pacy striker who had a good amount of first team experience last season scoring a goal or two for another 21 year old striker who scored 8 goals in League one?

Selling Kelman without given him a good run in the team will be a big big mistake. All clubs
cry out for a good striker. Those that can afford will splash the cash. In our case, we buy cheap hoping that one will eventually click. Well, we may have one in our hands that seems to do just that. What will we do? Sell him straightaway!!

I do agree with Marti on this one. I've not been a fan of kelmans when I saw him live a couple of times but you can't ignore that he scored over 20 goals last season. A stat that none of our strikers have ever got near so for me he has done enough to get a chance and a run of games. I'd like to see him in a front 2 but we can still fit Chair poku dembele behind themOriginally posted by Martinmalta View PostSelling Kelman without given him a good run in the team will be a big big mistake. Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.
I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.
We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

We dont play two up front and what we'd like is irrelevant. JS will likely set up the same as MC as thats the modern way. JS has already stared that he's going to play Chair centrally, so its one up top and a Nos 10.
If Kelman doesnt fit into our format and/or wont sign a new contract, then we have to sell him while he's in demand and can command a decent transfer fee. Sir Les stated that he would have been in big trouble if he had sold Willock for £6m when he was at his peak, later his form dropped, nobody wanted him and he left on a free. We need to maximise our income. The owners will do what's right for the club.

Yeah, it's a shame but even Barcelona got rid of Gary Lineker when he didn't fit the system. We need to profit on him while we can. Not to balance the books or anything like that, but to create more opportunity to spend money if desired or needed (especially if season doesn't go as well as I expect).
Coachs should have seen enough to decide if he would potentially work on our system and we saw a couple of nice touches and head up run the line play in the friendlies. But I didn't see the drop deep and harass the front line type stuff that we see from Frey or even Koli so I don't think he's the right fit for the tactical style.
Shame, could end up regretting it, but I'm always reminded of Mike Sheron situation and one good season does not guarantee a good player

How does celar fit in to our format? Or kolli? Neither can play as a 9. Kelman proved last year that he can play as a lone target man. I'd rather sell one of them than kelman.Originally posted by SheepRanger View PostWe dont play two up front and what we'd like is irrelevant. Someone on here suggested that Kolli might be pushed out wide and he's also been cutting his teeth in the first team. JS said Chair will come in from the wing and play centrally.
Celar had a bad start whilst settling in and then got injured, so he might be a different player this coming season...?
There are also rumours of other forwards coming into the squad. I think there's some wheeling and dealing to be done and if there's money on the table for any player who can be replaced cheaper they'll be gone to balance the books. That seems to be Kelman at the moment, but it might be Celar if theres a deal to be done.
If we had plently of money and not constantly overspending to the FFP max, then Kelman might have stayed. But I think we'll cash in and have to work around it, even if we're left with trying to put square pegs into round holes.
If the rumours are true, there are still transfers to be done, and who plays where will only become clear when the transfer windows closes. But "cash is king"

It's always dribs and drabs, nobody in EFL pays upfront. Main thing is we can book the total fee as income for this FFP cycle even if Charlton are paying us on tick for 5 years....Originally posted by Dono77 View PostIf rumours are true then CK is off to Charlton for 3.5m. Not bad seeing he only got 12 months left on his deal. As long as it's 3.5m now and not in dribs and drabs.
