Paal was also targeted by oppo because he was a bit small and weak defensively . I actually liked Paal as a player because he was composed on the ball and a decent technical player but he just was'nt brilliant at defending. I like Saito he's got a great attitude and determination , is skilful but we already have that type of player. We desperately need a proper left back , that is strong , aggressive and can defend first and foremost.Originally posted by djp View Post
He is actually 2 inches taller than Paal, yes he is fairly slight but I wouldn’t say he is weak, he is feisty and actually decent in the air, has a good leap on him. But agree £5m is far too much, £1.5m sounds about right to me

"It has emerged that Derby have agreed a deal with the Belgian side to sign Saito after meeting their valuation of around £5 million, as per Telegraph reporter Mike McGrath via X. McGrath states that the Rams are now in final talks with Lommel over a deal for the Japanese youth international, and are holding discussions with the player and his representatives".
I think we have other areas of squad to be spending our money on.

We clearly need a couple of full backs who are actually full backs.Originally posted by SheepRanger View Post"It has emerged that Derby have agreed a deal with the Belgian side to sign Saito after meeting their valuation of around £5 million, as per Telegraph reporter Mike McGrath via X. For us to sign him for £5m he's got to be worth £10m-15m in 1-3 years. That's the nature of the project. I thought he was a very good prospect but I don't know if he's a guaranteed sale at that level going forward. I'm really struggling with this club versus project concept - I get both sides individually, I'm just not sure how, or if, they meld together.

Talksport been saying, again, that the buy out clause expired Friday just gone. Whether that means Palace still wanted the £68m in the cause is anyone's guess. But the Arsenal rumours came to nothing, so without competition, I guess the fee would be around £50m. But still £10m for us in whatever chunks and timescales it takes to arrive in full is much needed. Hopefully, some of it will be spend on a few more players. But we need to ship some out too.....Madsen & Celar come to mind.Originally posted by cross it Dave View PostA poster on Fantasy is saying:-
´Just heard Chappers on BBC 5 Live that Eze "...is expected to sign for Spurs within the next 48 hours". Fingers crossed´
Yes, fingers crossed.

Saito is worth no more than 1.5m upfront..hes had one season here. 2 goals and 2 or 3 assists was it? Hardly setting the league on fire but I do really like the guy. Works his #### off and doesn't go missing. A very useful squad player but not sure hes worth anything close to what brum are happy to pay.

This was discussed a while back and generally accepted its going to be 20% of the sale price, not the profit. That may hav3 come from one of the fans forums, or the sports media who are familiar with these things.Originally posted by 3London View PostMy understanding is our percentage is on the profit not the goal - so we take £17 mill off what ever he is sold for and then get 20% of that
I may have got that wrong!

Pretty sure it came directly from LF at the time. I recall that others offered more upfront (Newcastle and West Brom?), but he wanted Palace so we said we would accept Palace offer so long as they give us 20% of a future sale priceOriginally posted by SheepRanger View Post

Although it looks Eze is all set for Spurs but someone told me (probably made up) that Arsenal might still be in it still with Trossard as part of a swap deal, how do you value a player who is nearly 31 though? No doubt Palace and Arsenal will scam us to benefit themselves especially as the £68 million clause has expired.

FFP. Palace will want high as possible. Our sell on must be based on Eze valuation. Trossard value doesn't matter.Originally posted by djp View PostAlthough it looks Eze is all set for Spurs but someone told me (probably made up) that Arsenal might still be in it still with Trossard as part of a swap deal, how do you value a player who is nearly 31 though? Saw today that Josh Brownhill has left Burnley .He would be an excellent signing for us , box to box midfielder , great motivator ,aggressive , good engine and scores goals; Would love to get him but he will probably sign for a lower Prem team or Birmingham , Wrexham or Ipswich. Better option than Hayden and probably on less money.
