Asby played 272 minutes on loan at Bradford, mostly on bench. We can do better.Originally posted by Abseits View Post
That's ignoring his misuse by Cifuentes though. He is a RB but was played at LB NINE times, midfield SEVEN times and only got to play FIVE times in his natural position of RB. Like I said, I don't feel he got a fair crack of the whip and its unreasonable to judge him when he was played out of position for 75% of his league appearances. Notwithstanding all that, I thought he looked like he had something about him - I'd have him ahead of Mbengue at RB all day.
Incidentally, Mbengue is an accident waiting to happen, how rubbish would he have looked continually getting shunted into midfield or leftback like Ashby had to put up with?
We need 3, maybe 4 FBs, Adamson and Mbengue aren't good enough and Larkeche is 50/50, difficult to say with him. We are not a rich club so I feel Ashby would be a serviceable VFM acquisition provided some other FBs came in too. Ultimately, I feel the club will ignore the FB berths and continue to deploy suboptimal players there and/or shunt CBs or CMs over there to patch up their recruitment holes.

Can't get me head round that, especially given that prior to JS arriving we had been playing just ONE striker up top for ages. Dunno how he fits in with Kone, Burrell and Kolli - maybe one of them is moving on?

It has been reported by journalist Rudy Galetti that QPR are keen on a deal to sign Bruno Langa this summer.
The defender spent last season on loan with Portuguese team Estrela, where he made 11 appearances in the league.
However, the Hoops are facing competition from Spanish side Eibar in the race for his signature.
The left-back has been with Almería since 2024, and has made 35 league appearances for the Spanish club in that time.

yeah, I mean we did sign Hayden I guess? but it feels like its the kind of position that players can be signed for that can be developed and sold on at a profit. So just didn't make sense to me. Holding midfielder? center back? I can picture those being the spine of the team and signing experience there, but right back? eh maybe I guess.

NAC Breda’s Boy Kemper is on his way to Queens Park Rangers this summer. On April 16th, Sport Witness covered claims from the Dutch press that QPR had the left-back on their agenda. With his contract expiring in June, the Championship side and other clubs contacted his camp over a free signing. Earlier this month, we relayed news of the London club’s interest in UD Almería’s Bruno Langa, but they have now decided to bet on Kemper. The English club became aware of Utrecht’s attempt and wanted to prevent them from poaching him. The player was on holiday but that didn’t stop him reaching a preliminary agreement with the Rs. QPR are offering the fullback a three-year deal, with an option for another year. His move to the Championship side is ‘almost finalised’, with the parties sorting out the last details. Once done, he will travel to London to carry out medical tests with Stéphan’s side.
According to Sacha Tavolieri, via X, QPR are looking to acquire the services of Rodez AF right back, Nolan Galvesp, along with Millwall, ahead of the 2026/27 campaign
