GP position last season was not good. Walsh looked ok some of the time but other times he didn't. Needs a loan. Nardi generally looked terrified at times, Hamer past it. Kept hearing Murphy doing well on loan so kind of thought he might have got a chance at least as back up this season. However we have bought in a very highly rated young keeper and another one who had a great season north of the border. Salaman as young back up. Just my opinion but looks a lot better than last season.

Still need a RB or two, possibly an additional LB (know nothing about new guy), an extra CM as we have lost a couple and another striker for competition, maybe two if something happens with Kolli.

For this stage of preseason we aren't looking too bad if only we can play like a connected joined up team next season which may be asking a little too much ...

I’d sacrifice the cash required on a rb for a cm who can drive us forwards field, Hayden both gone Morgan better going forwards than both those so may get more game time probably with Madsen

That's fair comment. Currently I don't feel the "ins" have even offset the "outs" let alone improved the squad that, let's face it, was a bit limp last season and finished with a splutter and a whimper. Deffo need an experienced rottweiler-cum-terrier type of player to sit in front of the defence, a Colback or Derry type of player. I like young Morgan but I think he needs more experience before he can legitimately dictate the pace and run games. I suppose there's a chance Varane might liven up and get properly dialled-in to the the bang, crash, wallop of the EFL but I'm not hopeful on that front.

Murphy has gone to Plymouth. I'd be pondering a move in the other direction involving Tolaj but I think they've valued him too highly.

Selling to another championship club seems odd too.

For me it sends out the message that we are happy where we are ...mid to lower championship who may fluke 8th place if we go on a bit of a run

Sell high and buy low. Reinvest the profits until the squad has better quality throughout. We need to churn the squad to make up for our smaller organic income. We paid £4.5m for him which may include add ons. But if they came in with a £9m deal early in the window we'd be crazy not to take it.

Isn't that how Brentford got promoted? Cashing out on their big players until they had a big enough of a budget to build a team good enough for promotion. How many times have we seen our better players walk out the door for nominal fees in the last year of their contracts? Our crowds are at least 10k short of the championship average of 26-30k. At 10,000 x £35 x 23 games = £8m. With hospitality let's just say we're £10m a seaaon short of the average like Boro, Norwich & Derby. We need to take the profits when they come and keep churning players until we can afford to keep a squad together. Even with £10m profit every season on plsyer trading im sure the owners will still stick in the maximum they're allowed to. Surely its the reality of being a small club. If Edwards goes, Varane wont be too far behind and possibly Burrell. Next season it might be Kone, Vale & Morgan. Others will replace them until we're ready for a big push.

I'm in agreement Sheep, if you can create a scouting network and find the players who are there or there about ready to step in (and I think under Nourry its been more hit than miss) we shouldn't balk or be afraid to sell players when the opportunity comes and should encourage it.

I find it weird that we haven't sold Varane though tbh on the offers we received, either we didn't see a player we could buy that would replace him, feel the value was under what he is worth, or the reality is that the hierarchy don't actually believe in this selling mentality.

I think last winter we were holding out for £5-7m for Varane, although after last season we'd be lucky to get £2m. If theres £5m on the table im sure he'll be gone, or given a kick up the Rs to perform to that price tag and he might go in the winter window?

We got Boy on a free with top tier Dutch football team.....Im sure there's plenty of those across Europe we could snap up after selling a few "stars".

I think there'll be another two on the way out with the same coming in. My money is Varane and Kolli on the way out, and possibly Morrison.

If we sell Ronnie for 8 to 10 million then I'll give up.
Hes on a long contract, played for England u21s and has huge potential.
Brentford sold for huge amounts of dosh and never undersold.
I hope Nourry sticks to his philosophy.
Burnley want him double is nowhere near enough.
We have a great centre half who if the right team is assembled around him could help get us to the playoffs.
