QPR priced out of Rhodes

I think Rhodes is quality, definately at this level..... but 10mill is too much for me.Not saying that, what I am saying is Remy will be off and what we would outlay for Rhodes we would get back in Remy sale plus extra.
I know Rhodes isn't proven at Prem Level but he knows how to finish.
Goalscorers don't come cheap these days, especially young ones.Comment

Seen so many players like that totally flop in the prem. He was a gamble that worked really well. Lets do it again with a jock.Comment
-
Mental if we pay 10 mil for him. He hasn't even played in the prem before. Charlie Austin has scored goals at every level, would you pay it for him before he signed? Or Danny Graham? Billy Sharp? Scored for fun at every level he has. Seems a lot of people get obsessed with one player and yes he scores a lot of goals, but who's to say we spend 10mill and then he flops? You'll all be on his back then.
Would I like us to sign him? Of course.
For 10 million? Not a chance, could get ince and then Graham on loan and have money left overComment

We could all argue till the Window Shuts, but if that NTep had signed over the weekend for £5million say then loads would be creaming on here!!
Wouldn't that of been a gamble?Comment

Another way of looking at this is that Rhodes would help us to gain automatic promotion.
If we go up then I would expect Remy to be gone, and Zamora and AJ would be gone as well which would only leave us with Austin.
Rhodes would have gone elsewhere, which would leave us to gamble on a new striker, who wouldn't come cheap.Comment

Austin is not enough. We need to be preparing for promotion. Another young up and comer who can make it in the Prem is the right call now. Anything else is reactive to where we are now in terms of cover needed/injuries and is just as much a gamble.
We should be buying youngsters who are Prem class, so that when we get there we'll stay there and not have to panic buy at the end of August.Comment

agree with all that except... not sure who can be sold, are Cesar/Diakite/Young/SWP getting bids and the club turning them down, I would be quite surprised if that was the caseI don't wish to be harsh (genuinely) but quite the reverse. Samba was an established Premier League player who pretty well everyone on here agreed was a beast and who Wenger had tried to sign who had then been sold for £12m. At the time we were also a Prem Club desperate to stay in the Prem and were chucking crazy money around for a club our size. How many Championship clubs spend 8/9m - the Blackburn manager clearly wants more - on a striker who has never played in the top flight? There is no incoming Remy money because he hasn't been sold. As for the "recoup" you must be living in an alternative fantasy universe - the club is running at a massive loss with expenditure massively dwarfing income. Maybe if the transfer fee is such peanuts, you should contribute towards it. We are second in the league -as you are fond of saying - with by far the most expensive squad in the division: you demand loyalty for the manager, maybe you should show some to the chairman who has bankrolled just about his every whim until now: why should Tony chuck a fortune more of his hard-earned into the club unless Harry can first raise some money through sales? Probably the reason why Tony has made a few bob is because he is a little bit sharper than one or two fans when it comes to economics...Comment

I think Harry really wants him.
Comments of .. He is Amazing, he scores every week.
Harry knows we can afford him, he just needs the board to give the go-ahead.Comment
-
Of course he does. Blackburn fans accusing Harry of trying to unsettle him. Wouldn't surprise me if he's already been taping him up. He's the best striker we could realistically get and I think the board and Harry know that.Comment
