TWO year deal is the key at his age- I'm guessing there's no way we'd offer more than 12 months. Because players pay 45% tax, even if Fox takes a pay drop, the 24 months of net pay from Wigan will tot up very well in comparison to the 12 month total we were probably offering.

close to Jimmy Dunne for player of the year last year.
Walsh is 23 years old and Nardi is 31.

Due to his age there's more chance of us selling Walsh and making money, so he gets the slot I reckon. Cooper is with Barnsley, so we'll probably keep Nardi this season as back up.

Former QPR defender Morgan Fox is set to sign for Wigan Athletic

The 31-year-old’s contract at QPR expired this summer, which saw Charlton Athletic eye Fox for a return to the club he played 116 games for before joining Sheffield Wednesday.

Now, EFL Analysis can reveal with information from our Chief Football correspondent, Graeme Bailey, that Fox has finalised a shock move to Wigan after turning down a contract to stay at QPR.

Initially, Fox was set to stay at Loftus Road, having held talks with former club Charlton.

However, EFL Analysis can now reveal that Fox has signed a two-year deal with Wigan following extensive talks with manager Ryan Lowe, who has persuaded the player to make the move to the North West.

EFL Analysis can confirm that Fox will be presented to the Wigan faithful ahead of the opening game of the season against Northampton this afternoon (Saturday, August 2).

Kolli has scored 4 goals and 3 assists in 30 games. But he's only played 982 minutes which boils down to nearly 11 full games.

Hes directly influenced games 7 times in 11 full matches. That's is a very respectable return for a player who won't be 21 until next Feb.

Dunne brings a lot to the team with his physical presence in the areas and weighs in with goals too. BUT... he can do this from any position - he doesn't need to play as a RB to do it.

Looking at him purely as a RB he's too slow and ungainly. I'd rather see someone smaller, nippier and more agile at RB.

So, I reckon we DO need a specialist RB slash WB.
Dunne at right back creates mismatches on the field.
Gives us better height for both attacking and defending corners, makes crossing coming from our left mess dangerous at the back post, and he's decent at that spot with the strength to keep attackers at bay and decent enough feet to be useful growing forward.

Overall it's one of the smartest, even if not intentional, Marti did in his entire run as our manager.

Christie a couple of years ago may have been a good shout but he couldn't get a game at Swansea last year. Is he good enough for this level now?

Woukd love us to sign a proper right back although I think dunne will be first choice and he's better there than he was as a centre back.
