Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf say that Fer didn't fail a medical...instead he was carrying a injury so the medical never took place. Sunderland didn't want to take on a player suffering from an injury and so everything was called off.

However Leroy definitely travelled to Sunderland...for what??


On Wednesday the Dutch media said Fer hadn't agreed financial terms with Sunderland.

Fer is on a decent wage with QPR and that's proving a barrier to a loan exit, or even a permanent exit.

Fer's performances in the Premier League haven't been enough to have a queue of clubs waiting to improve or even match his current salary with QPR.

There are rumours that QPR are offering him to clubs in a attempt to lighten the payroll.

Doubts over the player's fitness, whether that's due to a failed medical or other injury, aren't going to help the matter come to a solution.

Fer may be spending this season with QPR, against his initial wishes...and possibly also against the wishes of QPR who aim to lighten our payroll to be in a position to bid for centre backs.

Could it be the case that players who have relegation wage drops (Caulker, Fer etc) have their wages return to full should they return to the prem and we aren't willing to pay the difference?

This anoys me.....Fer is a decent player (not one of our mercanaries)....If he wants to stay (albeit coz of wages) we should be trying to keep him rather than ship him out....wages I know but surely we have to stop the cost cutting somewhere.....we'll be selling the Loftus Road turf soon!

While I agree, I'm almost certain the club doesnt want to sell him. But as has been discussed numerous times at the club, we have to sell a big value player or get them off the bill to bring in more players in positions we need them.

They have anti monopolisation rules but this is ridiculous to be honest. It is also clear that just because a club got relegated, doesn't mean they can abuse their financial power to go up again (see Wigan and Fulham and Wolves as prime examples). Its only the bottomfeeders of football league who are butthurt about this situation.
