AS for his "significant injury record" why don't you elaborate on the detail, because other then the well publicised back issue 5 years ago, the fact he's played 30 games on average for years since then, would contradict your constant obsession that he's so injury prone. Players do get injuries, and id argue players at the top level are more likely to as play far more games and more regularly. On top of that, top players will be wanted and possibly rushed back from niggles more than squad players, which again can have knock on effects.

Charlie Austin missed about a quarter of our season last year and is 25...... shall we ship him out now because he must have a significant injury record by your logic......???

    Season

    2008–09 43
    2009–10 21
    2010–11 29
    2011–12 38
    2012–13 34
    2013–14 23

Straight off wiki his appearances over the last 6 years. Bare in mind last year it wasn't down to injury too but moyes. Averaged 31 games a season over that time. Thought would help prove your point mate.

I don't have a problem with bringing in Rio per se - clearly he is past his best, but he will still be as good as anything in the bottom half of the league. The worry for me is that Redknapp has got his heart set on Ferdinand and Caulker playing 38 games next season, which would be extremely harsh to Nedum Onuoha, who in my opinion has displayed enough ability and desire to warrant starting against Hull. If Ferdinand has been brought in on a player / coach basis, similar to the deal for Nelsen, then great. If he's brought him in as first choice week in week out, then I have my doubts. Having said that, I was critical when we brought in Nelsen, and he shut me right up....I hope Rio does the same.

                The offical is just awful
                Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

Well, I've given my reasons for not signing him, others have given their reasons for signing him. Maidstone Hoop indicates we'll get 31 games out of him.

We shall have to see if he plays that many, and if he is as good as he's made out to be.

I haven't said we will get 31 games out of him, I just indicated over the last 6 years that's how many appearance he's averaged. I'll be happy with 20 - 25 good performances tbh.

I think you misunderstand me. I said you "indicated" we'd get 31 games out of him. That was based on the numbers you quoted in helping someone prove a point.

We'll have to wait and see how many games he plays, and if he's able to maintain that average this coming season.

For the record, I'd be delighted if he plays 31 games this season and would be happy to eat humble pie.

Whether in favour or not, as long as you give him your full support as a fan is the main thing.

As with all players, whoever wears our shirt gets my support. I've never booed a single one of our players, even if I don't approve of them. The club is bigger than any one individual.
