Let's not be naive here.Originally posted by Kirill View PostI do. His (in)action in that drug test stood out so clearly that I never forgot it, even if he did. And as his memory failed him so cruelly, what else could be failing in his body now? Not worth the risk.
Let's remember a few players in very recent history who have had convenient 9, 18 month "injury lay offs", yet come back and play almost immediately that time is up with no visible problems with the reported injured area. I think we've had a couple of convenient 9 month + "injuries" in the past 20 years.Meet me by the railway tracks

For me it's nothing to do with his previous misdemeanour's etc
Its more to do with the fact he is 35 going on 36 , we already have 2 over 35 CB as it is so I don't see the point of this signing , he is injury prone and clearly on the decline as a footballer.
We should be looking at young CB to partner Onoura not a 35 year old who has seen it allWe Are The People.....

Rio is wayyyyyyyyyyyy better than the two 35year old centre backs we have already.Originally posted by Rangersw12 View PostFor me it's nothing to do with his previous misdemeanour's etc

Blimey the repeated banging of this drum is getting beyond boring now. He is not "injury prone" he had a back issues 5 years ago which caused some issues soon after, but he's averaged 30 games a season for the last 4 years!Originally posted by Rangersw12 View PostFor me it's nothing to do with his previous misdemeanour's etc

AS for already having 2 35+ CB's, yes, but the signing of Rio is far more logical than giving Hill another years contract when we all know he's not good enough for the prem. That was just pointless and based on sentiment.
And as for the "player on decline" comment, well no sh1t Sherlock, all footballers are on the decline once they hit 30 and beyond..... it's not just an issue with Rio Ferdinand as you seem to suggest, it's something that is relevant to everyone.

I've heard this mentioned elsewhere online too, no idea how true it is though....Originally posted by Johnny Tightlips View PostLet's not be naive here.

All speculation but a young English midfielder at one of the top clubs supposedly missed a lot of football because of a drugs ban that was covered up as an injury.Originally posted by DeepcutHoop View PostI've heard this mentioned elsewhere online too, no idea how true it is though....

So hears an idea doctor Watson maybe we shouldn't sign players over 30 then.....Originally posted by Del View PostBlimey the repeated banging of this drum is getting beyond boring now. Richard you appear to have a huge vendetta against Rio you cannot or refuse to see any of the benefits of his presence around the squad interested to know why you are so entrenched in your position as although you have argued against his signing you have in my view failed to offer a up a conclusive case against itOriginally posted by QPR Richard View PostUltimate professional eh? I take it you've forgotten about his ban for failing to take a drugs test? How many professionals do that?
Whats your real problem with him????

I have a mate who does the tests on behalf of the FA you will be amazed the stunts pulled to avoid the tests at ALL clubsOriginally posted by QPR Richard View PostI doubt many on here have dodged drug tests, and I don't know how many have been convicted of drink-driving. I haven't.
Should be careful from scratching the surface as you have no idea what lies beneath
