If there's any accuracy in the Standard article posted above, it would suggest that the "problem" with circa £70 bags a week is not a problem anymore- whether that means he is taking a large pay cut or not, who knows. Someone's suggestion above that about half that plus a huge bonus would be a good move.

Parker will be a great signing if it goes through but we're still missing a playmaker in the middle, quite badly...

ok, say we get parker and zapata

we stll need cover at left back if trore goes plus we need a winger to cover hoilett.

not to mention a farking cb who is under the age of 138

when newcastle went up their midfield had no 'playmaker' as such but was hard working and diligent!

Henry Parker Jenas Barton Faurlin , nice choice of centre mid positions.

Will need the strength in depth when it get to Jan / Feb and injuries and suspensions kick in for all clubs.

There is a post about some left back from France?
The window has a few weeks left and H is always live to a late deal or two. Not only that but there is also the loan window and I suspect H will raid that particular market in due course. Harry already confirmed for example that he is interested in Assidi (sp) the lad from Liverpool.
Don't forget also that Baird is due in and he is a versatile defensive option.

As long as it is financially viable for the club, I wouldn't mind Parker earning serious dollar, as he actually puts 150% effort in. Earns his wage.

Yes I see the view on when the likes of Granero/Bosingwa etc get paid vast sums with there attitude and poor application but this is Scott Parker. He will give 100% each time he plays and is good enough for the Premiership. If we can get him playing for us in the Championship I don't care what he gets paid.
Because bringing in someone and paying them a huge wage in the Championship would upset the dressing room (again). Especially after getting rid of the high wage earners we have done so far. As for Parker, he is 33 this year so the length of contract also comes into question. Personally i dont believe that Beard and co are stupid enough to be paying him anywhere near the reported £70k a week he was on at Spurs...... been there, done that, learnt the lesson.

Parker will be a sensational signing - he's a class act and will lift everyone at the club!! He will be a fans favourite very quickly, him Barton and faurlin in midfield will be a class act - Parker also has a decent pass on him and will feed out strikers nicely! Will be over the moon if we sign him!
Another cb striker and lb and think we will give this league a good crack

Would be a huge asset to us in midfield as long as he stays injury free.
