QPR have emerged as contenders to sign Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson ahead of the January transfer window.
The 25-year-old is potentially set for a temporary move away from the Stadium of Light. That’s according to The Sun’s Alan Nixon.
Patterson, a product of Sunderland’s academy, has been a key figure for the club in recent seasons.
He played an important role in the Black Cats’ promotion from League One during the 2021/22 campaign and remained first choice as the club stabilised itself back in the Championship before securing promotion to the Premier League last season under Regis Le Bris.
Robin Roefs has, however, taken the number one shirt since their return to the top flight, with Patterson joining a number of Sunderland's promotion heroes on the periphery as Le Bris' side continue to impress in the Premier League.

Would be a very good signing Patterson. Dare I say we could then sell Walsh and Nardi, leaving Hamer as back up for this season?Originally posted by SheepRanger View PostQPR have emerged as contenders to sign Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson ahead of the January transfer window.

Would love Edwards signed aswell personally, especially with Cook contract ending soon and still major doubts over JCS.
Perhaps to free up funds we could try and offload Frey, Celar and Dembele? If there’d be any takers?
Finally, might sound greedy, but we need back up to Burrell and Kone as Kolli although decent, is injured a lot! However, would rather him on the bench to come on than the slow, lumbering, lump Frey! Hence wanting to sell him and Celar.
Must be other gems in League one (like Burrell) who we could bring in, on the cheap, and develop ourselves? Any young, hot, Striker prospects out there?

Maybe just me but I like Nardi. OK, he has a few issues but he is a terrific shot stopper. Comes in for a lot of stick when you think how terrible sometimes, the defence in front of him can be.
GK would be far from my list of priorities.
Need a leader on the field. See if Mbengue can do it. Otherwise look outside for one. Even an old guy, just short term.
We remain potentially quite a decent side. OK full backs yes and maybe Edwards if possible. This, followed by correct team selection/game plan and substitutes and we aren't far away.

I agree he probably saves more goals than ones we have conceded as a direct mistake from him.Originally posted by daveshads View PostMaybe just me but I like Nardi. but it IS also about perception and he seems very nervous and jittery especially regarding coming for and catching crosses. also he is a bit dodgy with the ball at his feet.
The lad at Sunderland would definitely be an upgrade but i think

Never played in goal but Walsh ain’t good enough and Nardi fair enough shot stopper but he looks like a keeper that lacks confidence to catch high balls but Credit to Nardi he wasn’t far of player of the season last time
As for Edwards coming back not sure will happen getting bit of game time now
we need proper fb imo not had them for far too long

Nardi's confidence has looked shot this season and he doesn't inspire confidence from things like crosses. If he could get his mojo back personally think he did pretty well for us last season. Agree Walsh had poor start to season. If we have recall option would be tempted to bring Murphy back and send Walsh out on loan. Keep hearing good things about him over last year or two. May not be the answer but is a position we are struggling in.
If Celar comes back either need to get rid or have him as backup to Kone and Burrell alongside Kolli if he can get his fitness sorted out.

Same with the keeper Paterson at Sunderland with Leicester and Southampton apparently in pole position due to their parachute payments. Interesting fact on one article today:Originally posted by QPRDave View PostJust been seeing a rumour that Dieng's contract being paid up by boro, and hull city are set to sign him.
And rumours there's a hell of a lot interest in Ronnie Edwards.
Not sure we can compete
"In terms of save percentage, Nardi has the second-worst average in the league with 63% of his shots faced being kept out by the Frenchman, while Hamer is only marginally better at 64%"
I think we might have to sell or loan out some fringe players to free up the budget needed for new signings. Im struggling to think of any fringe player(s) that would generate £2-3m.

QPR winger Emmerson Sutton is wanted by Hartlepool United, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke on X.
QPR loaned the attacker to Morecambe back in September. He was given the green light to link up with the National League side on loan to get some more experience under his belt.
Sutton, 19, is now due to return to the Hoops from the Shrimps. He has made 14 appearances for the fifth tier side in all competitions and has chipped in with one goal.
In this latest update regarding his situation this winter, reporter O’Rourke has claimed on X that he has now emerged on the radar of their league rivals Hartlepool United. However, a ‘number’ of other teams are also in the frame.

I kinda feel sorry for him here. He mostly gets thrown on for last 15 minutes in games that have already gone to pot and are beyond saving - don't really think we're giving him any sort of stage or platform to shine on. Maybe the club retained him this season in case Burrell or Kone turned out to be duds but now those two have proven themselves we no longer require Michy as an insurance policy. He could move on to get more game-time somewhere else, we get his wages off the books and maybe a nominal fee too OR he just stays put til Summer, neither option would worry me much.Originally posted by 3London View PostLooks like the club are trying to sell Frey
