I reckon every backer of a premiership club has got a boat worth more, if not double the debt thier club owes. Us included. Its just a money pit that gets them contacts, fame, and advertising worldwide, the boat gets them nothing but a nice holiday two weeks of every year. So in a way its a good hobby. Wish people would atop going on about the rich and famous and how they choose to spend their money. Relax, they have got tons of it.

We could have a 100-thousand seater stadium right now, would still have an inept chairman and a failing manager.
Get rid of Realitynap, have Amit take over from Tony, improve the atmosphere in the club for a better chance of survival.
Leave the grand scheming until after that is done. Otherwise it looks like putting the cart in front of the donkey.

No. We're not the same as everyone else. There are different models of ownership - in some clubs fans trusts are stepping in, and this can work at a high level: Swansea in the prem and several owned outright in the Bundesliga. This is the way forward.

You can survive indebtedness if management is working and development taking place, ie in a functional context.

I thought about posting a comment pretty similar to this one, but I would've been accused of "negativity towards Fernandes."

So we have infinite threads about ageing players and 'where are our youth' and now people are complaining that developing the training facilities (which will encompass the youth academy) shouldn't be a priority.

If anything it should be an absolute 100% priority because if we get relegated we will need a cracking youth system to help us get back up.

I find it funny that people are complaining about this thread, by putting words in my mouth - I said on the previous page that the training ground is an excellent idea in the long term. You have to be realistic though. Even if they started building it today (and that is a LONG way from happening) we probably wouldn't see the benefits of it for 4-5 years. I am all for upgrading our facilities, but don't expect youth players capable of getting us promoted within the decade.

So exactly 'when' would you start building the academy then? IMO we need to start building it now so we can produce young players asap.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

You are arguing against points that I haven't even made. I'm saying that the training ground won't produce youth players of sufficient quality for a while......not that we should wait to build it.

You started the thread as a complaint about Tony making a vid highlighting all the behind the scenes work that's going on that the club and saying it the work was unnecessary given our on pitch performance. I'm simply saying that our on pitch performance and the main gripes posters have is precisely because we haven't been doing this stuff.

As a side note Southampton created their academy in 1998. Just shows how much time is required to produce an academy that's successful.

Tony is (now) correctly investing money where it needs to be rather than down the plug hole that is Harry's transfer kitty. As a club we seem to be a victim of our own success of getting promoted too early under Warnock!!

i'm starting to have enough now. In the bottom 3, debt up to our eyeballs, and the bloke trots out the new training ground / stadium (which are no nearer to being realised) garbage every time he takes some criticism. We don't need videos on warren farm, we need a team that can win away from loftus road.

My issue is with the timing, not the proposals per se (although the idea of a new training ground is far more appealing to me personally than a new stadium at present.) As I mentioned, information about both always seems to co-incidence with drama or incident at the club, as if it is some form of poorly constructed PR attempt to temporarily appease the fans.
