You can't equate short-term on-field problems with long-term infrastructure development. TF has already said we will strengthen the team where we can. It's now down to the players and coaching staff to do their bit. Tony can't put on a track suit and coach the players or stick on a pair of boots on Saturdays can he?

As I've said elsewhere, if we'd done better in just a few more games we'd be higher up the table and this wouldn't be a discussion. Whenever we have a bad patch the doom and gloom merchants have a field day on here.
Do I want to see QPR in a brand new 40k stadium and with a state of the art training ground? Of course I do. But let's not run before we can walk. Until we establish ourselves in the PL (over 5-6 consecutive seasons) we shouldn't even be considering a stadium. You call it negativity, I call it common sense. As such, you can equate short term on-field problems to long term infrastructure development, because lack of success in one impacts on the need to construct the other - how many overly-ambitious Championship clubs have relatively new / redeveloped stadiums that are half empty? A lot is the answer. Ask Coventry or Doncaster fans if new stadiums helped them long term. As I mentioned in my OP, Fernandes always seems to provide updates on the "future of QPR" whenever he is under some form of on-field related pressure. That's deflecting in my book. Our "bad patch" has lasted nigh on 4 years.

I'm not complaining about either. I'm saying that this shouldn't be our main concern at this time - it's poor timing on TF's part.

Why? Because he is making a video about it? Because he is showing his future vision for this club? Maybe it was a suggestion that he won't be packing up and leaving. Maybe he wants to reassure fans that he is here for the long run because from what I have seen here, people are suggesting that he is looking to sell the club. This almost guarantees otherwise.

There's far easier ways to do that than by planning the construction of a new stadium. As I have already mentioned, our present defines our future - a yo-yo club doesn't need a 40k seater stadium. I will concede that the training ground will prove beneficial regardless of the division that we are in, especially in terms of developing youth players.

He inherited Warnock. He was never one of Tony's Managers.

I agree that it is by no means over, back to back victories can change the viewpoint of many, but with Stoke, Sunderland Hull & Villa away games coming up the future could look very bleak if they continue this losing streak or very promising if it improves with a few wins and draws.

If they lose, many will write the rest of the season off, as I don't expect the pre Christmas home form to return against the top half teams.

Unfortunately, football doesn't work like that. New stadiums and training grounds are luxuries that we don't need (and I daresay can't afford) at this time. TF needs a little perspective here.
I hate to tell you this but football stopped being a sport and became a business years ago. Maybe it's a business for rich men with money to burn, but it is a business all the same.

I agree with both of these.

One thing that Fernandes said in his statement yesterday interests me. "It's very tight in the table and we will do our best to strengthen where we can to give us the best possible chance."

Does this mean he will be approving funds to buy players to improve the team's chances. Because some pace is needed in order to win away points if they continue in using the negative tactics used on their travels this season. You can't counter attack at walking pace.

If its off the pitch, surely TF has made that clear? New training ground, stadium etc are long term. Staying up is shoet term but that is down to the manager and players, not TF imo.
Take your point but not sure you can separate on/ off pitch like that. Its no point forging ahead with new stadium/ training ground if we are back in the Champ, potentially imploding with fair play penalties etc. To be clear I am not one of these people who are laying into Tony because he is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't invest yet more money this transfer window. Gary Neville's point was that Man City/ Chelsea are buying success, teams like Palace are going gently gently in case they go down, Swansea/ Southampton focusing on youth development. Us? He said that sometimes we act like a City or a Chelsea but now suddenly we are doing it a bit more like Palace. But worse because we are facing our second relegation in three years. My take, for what it is worth, is we are trying to do a Man City on the cheap - and that, imho, hasn't worked and won't work.

This. But it's OK. We do have a strategy. Flying by the seat of our pants.

we may stay up by the skin of our teeth, just like when we got up, but you know what that means? Same again, another 12 month stretch under this lot. And some time soon we wont get out of jail. Hence the need for a coherent alternative.

That is sadly something that so many of us are still not prepared to do at this crucial point.
We don't need (can't afford) a new 40 thousand-seater stadium the way we are heading (down).
We could have a 100-thousand seater stadium right now, would still have an inept chairman and a failing manager.
Get rid of Realitynap, have Amit take over from Tony, improve the atmosphere in the club for a better chance of survival.
Leave the grand scheming until after that is done. Otherwise it looks like putting the cart in front of the donkey.

Seeing as virtually every professional club in the country is operating at a loss (in many cases of £100million plus), I would use the term "business" extremely loosely. Rather, football (especially the PL) is marketable entertainment.
