In answer to your question - Rio brings more experience and know how at the top level. He brings a winning and successful mentality into our club, which many other signings haven't. He has no language or culture issues as some foreign players have. He has played for years and been a linchpin at one of the biggest clubs in the world with many world class players. From that he would have fantastic knowledge and awareness of what it takes. He's done it and with due respect to Dunne and Hill, they haven't been successful at the highest level on the highest stage. He knows Harry and has played for him, which means he's more likely to come with the right attitude and mindset. Of course, he's not as fit as he was, none of us are, that's a fact of life but top players see situations quicker, anticipate things quicker and can organise other players to operate better.Originally posted by Rangersw12 View PostI'm REALLY shocked you haven't given me an answer to the question
I hope this goes some way to answering your question.
I know our top targets were Thiago Silva and Raphael Varane but unfortunately our bids were turned down - perhaps we'll up the bids, ideally get them and we won't have to suffer a hopeless old crock like Rio!!

Completely.
To ask what the difference is compared to Hill and Dunne is laughable when thy are all about the same age. This would be the same Hill that spent all bar a couple of twilight seasons of his career languishing in the lower leagues, while many thought Rio was the best in the World....???Last edited by Del; 24-06-2014, 02:54 PM.

Wouldn't be averse to that either tbf.Originally posted by Rangersw12 View PostIf we get Rio then maybe we would be able to sign Lampard as well ??
If not please enlighten me
Would still carry more threat, energy and mobility than Karl Henry, Gary O'Neil and Joey put together.Meet me by the railway tracks

Yeah because Hill and Dunne get better every year don't they. Perhaps you should just accept that whether you agree to the potential benefits of Rio signing or not, you are just making yourself look stupid with these comments. TO actually beat on about why Rio is better than either of those two is pathetic. They are hardly in their mid 20's or in their prime are they. The three are similar age so at a similar level of decline from their best, but the significant difference is Rio's best was infinitely better than either of them could ever have dreamed of.Originally posted by Rangersw12 View PostA few years ago maybe but not recently and has been on the decline
Add to the fact he has class, reads the game as good as any defender in the game, composure, ability on the ball, can play from the back, will be a lot wiser to the tricks of top strikers having played against the very best far more than even Dunne due to his Champions League experience. Not to mention he's a natural leader who will have the respect of everyone around him. He will improve the games of the defenders around him by simply passing on his knowledge so that's a long term plus also.
Let's not also ignore his name and image will be lucrative for the club and the marketing team.
Hill and Dunne may be decent grafters who get stuck in, but they are leagues below Rio when it comes to ability.
