Most mentioned are from lazy media. They are always trotted out. The main criteria is to play in a similar style to MC and therefore save having a large influx of players and save changing how all our other squads play..

There will be plenty of sackings and non-renewal of contracts over coming weeks. I suspect there'll be many others where the current club will happily let the manager go with minimal pressure/persuasion too.
Given the club and Marti appear to be in the middle of some sort of stand-off or HR procedure I suspect we cannot name a new manager yet as it would infer Marti had been sacked and we were pre-empting the outcome of the HR process - basically we have to correctly and formally get shot of him before permanently replacing him.
It could drag on some while and folks do like to moan about club "not saying anything". Well, in this case they can't... its a personal matter between employer and employee and nobody else's business. Blabbing about any of it publicly would leave them wide open to Marti sueing them (and vice versa too of coure).

I think we're in limbo until he finds another job and it will come down to a haggle over the terms of compensation. I'm sure it was a deliberate leak to create a situation that would result in compo terms being reduced or removed.
The only way we can play hardball is to keep him on the payroll whilst recruiting another head coach/manager. But paying double bubble is even more likely to result in him walking away without compo being paid.
If we sacked him don't they have an obligation to reduce compensation? Compo is reduced by the earnings from the next job?
Marti should do the honorable thing and resign, but he won't because he's a ####.Last edited by SheepRanger; 07-05-2025, 06:27 PM.

Not saying anything either way but unless you know for a fact he's a #### it's a bit unfair to judge, he may have spoken to WBA in a dishonest manner, maybe his agents did without permission, maybe things behind the scenes are actually broken with CN and he was looking at jumping before being pushed....maybe it is what it is on the surface and the club caught him in the act.

In the absence of Marti moving agents, which hasn't been communicated to take the steam out of the situation, we should report WBA for tapping up our manager. The fact we haven't reported them suggests to me there's plently of mileage in this story yet. He might even end up at Watford.
Marti and his representatives have acted in an unprofessional manner where I feel justified to question his morals. Those who want to give Marti a man-hug can crack on.Last edited by SheepRanger; 07-05-2025, 09:09 PM.

Couldn't disagree more with your view Marti should resign. In fact this is whole situation came about because that's exactly what he and his agents wanted. As it would allow a budget limited side like WBA to pick him up with no or greatly reduced compensation to us
When Marti was dropping comments in post match interviews about it being the "most difficult season of his career", and creating a sense of problems behind the scenes that was Marti working towards creating a justification for him to resign.
Then it culminating in his team planting that story in the Sun that Marti might quit.
Marti never stays anywhere longer than two years before taking a step up. He knows he hasn't had a good enough season for a Leicester or Southampton to come and get him.
His perceived next step up, would be a West Brom, a Norwich or Watford. All clubs post parachute payments who would be put off by paying compensation for him and Calm
It has long been Marti'a intention to quit. And he wanted to do it before the 1st July. So then he could join someone like a WBA without us being owed compensation
The club has taken actions to protect our financial position here by putting him in the garden

Just so long as Marti goes and takes his awful football with him (and those behind him perhaps who instigate it).
The last 2 nights have somewhat restored my faith in football. OK we are light years away from there but at least those 2 games reminded me that football could be enjoyable.

On the upside, whenever I saw them, he got Norwich trying to play attractive football. On the down, I think his win ratio was around 30%. A friend who's a Norwich fan said that he really liked what he was trying to do but it just never clicked completely. I'm not sure tbh - he may be fired up to complete what he was trying to do up there but Norwich have more resources than us. If his track record for bringing on younger players is strong then that might swing it for the club management.
