As the saga continues regarding Raheem Sterlings contract at Liverpool, Adam Bate argues that nobody should lose sight of what an extraordinary talent the Reds have on their hands...

Take a look at those stats and come back and say he's useless or over rated. I agree the fee is excessive but to right of this lads ability is laughable. As this proves of sterling isn't u to much then the rest of European u21 players must be awful.

He got these stats in a poor Liverpool team where has the main ma pretty much last year at just 20 years old being moved around positions constantly. Really can't believe the stick he gets over ability.

The boys materialising a move to a team who wins things, plays champions league football and has one of the most amazing facilities in world football. Sad to see the stick he gets for it.

Why would they comment on someone else's player? Paladini brokered the deal, so I guess that's as reliable as it's gonna get.

Really don't get how people can buy the obvious attempts of the pro-scouse media to cast Sterling as the villain.

Liverpool are shite and will be for the next 5 years, he wants to play CL football and earn a bit more - he's only on 35 p/w at the moment.

Rodgers was publicly talking about Sterling's contract from before christmas, it's obvious they want the cash but don't want to lose face. Horrible club tbh. I do agree the 50M fee is overpriced but that's what happens with English players - Barkley was being quoted as 35M before and he's not half the player Raheem is.

Anyway the cash should do us well, it's a lot of money for doing very little but honestly we deserve something after having our best talent in years poached.

                A) I have no idea

                B) Burnley had to pay Swindon a sell on fee when we purchased Austin. (15%) So, if they were half sensible they'd have included that in our deal so it may well be true.

Re Sterling, it is 20% but that's of the fee paid. City may lob in a player remember and their "estimated" cost will be deducted if that happens. Whatever happens we should get some nice cash from the deal.

Are there no rules in place with regard to sell on clauses, in order to stop part exchanges having an effect? Haven't a clue personally, but it would seem very open to abuse, if not.

I thought it was published somewhere that there was a 20% sell on clause looks like a few quid in the bank to use!!just don't trust Ramsey & Ferdinand to use it well?

Looks like we will pocket 8-9 mill.

Hope we bank it personally and see it as a extra bonus to pay of debts. Would prefer to use funds from the sales of Sandro, Fer or Charlie to reinvest in players..
BBC are reporting £49M fee agreed.

Do we get it as a lump sum or over the period of his contract at City which is how they will stagger the payments to Liverpool ?
