we might be active in this window but we're also buying young inexperience players (Mackie aside) and if you belive what papers and various reports say that seems to be our level of incoming signings. Not that Im complaining as I think thats the right way of doing things (building for the future). Just think to expect anything more than survival at this stage is a bit unrealistic/unfair imho.

supose you could argue we havent lost any of our key players ie- Austin, Fer, Phillips, Sandro, Caulker (really think he'll step up in the champs). But imho they'll all/most be gone, just a matter of time.

Come start of the season I just really cant see us having a 'top 6 side' as some are saying.... Said it so many times, from now on in its all about re-building/setting foundations for the future, on and off the pitch. lets just give this team/squad/staff all time to come together instead of wishing for 'quick fixes' that dont work!

still on the fence with Ramsey and Les. reckon they'll be great for the club -
bring the right players in,
build a strong squad with young players that can and want to improve,
bring a new and much needed philosiphy to the team.
Bring in staff that know and genuinly care about the club.

BUT I cant help but question Ramsey's management skills. That said, at the same time I do however feel I cant make a true judgement on him untill he's built and managed his own team.

Having been a season ticket holder for the last 20 years I am really looking forward to next season. Our last escapades in the premier have on the hole not been enjoyable. The championship is exciting (especially the last 2 for us) and refreshing, we have a chance in every game, not something you can say for the premiership. I have no say in which players will be here or those players that wont, I have no say on who the DOF or Coach or Chairman is, I have no say in who we sign. So bring on next season, I will go to every game expecting to win but sometimes getting disappointed. But that's been every season for me since my first game in 1967

Everybody needs to understand that next seasons target is not promotion - it is stability..the club desperately needs to re ground itself on a firm footing so that the next time we go up we can stay up for longer than the last two attempts..if we are to become an established Premier league club we first have to become a club again rather than a cash cow for overpaid footballers of recent years. so a lot of people on here are going to be very frustrated if they can't buy into the same vision that the club now seems to have.


yes we all want to watch a successful team but we also want a club that the older ones amongst us remember supporting.

we want to be competitive and if you are in it you have to want to win it but the playoffs will be a bonus..the only danger will be that we fluke those like we did a year ago and look where that got us! for me last season was one of the most miserable in the 40 odd seasons i have been going ..i am happy to wait one or two years if it means watching decent competitive football from players that actually want to play football rather than count their cash and pose in front of expensive cars.

Not that I am 100% sure of where we will finish this year, nor do I expect us to finish in the top two or even the play-offs... BUT.

Can I just say, I remember posting exactly the same post about Warnock and his signings (Whilst on the smallest budget ever).

1. Signing players we havent heard off (Especially young proven league 1 players) may actually prove to be great moves and deals.
2. Derry and Hill looked like awful signings.. 60% would probably thought the worse from them coming in.
3. We only had 1 stand out player
4. A very average back four on paper.
5. A team that was united and knew each other from pre-season.

My thoughts are, we are building a team that could be quite decent who knows. Ok we are still yet to sign a new back line (Not sure who will end up staying yet) but going forward things look quite tidy.

- Goals in Jet and Mackie no doubt, we may even get this Gray lad. (lets face it, Chaz is off but hopefully for no less than the £15M asked for.)
- Our midfield is shaping up quite nicely. Freeman and this other Swindon lad could be great additions.
- Keeping Phillips could be Key.
- Even keeping Nedum might be superb news.
- Hill is decent at CB at this level.

Lets wait and see.. but top ten would be a good start.

Would be an ideal but personally think if we are to go up at any point, then we have to smash this division and I don't think we'll do that this season (am more than happy to be wrong on this).

Mack we all know sport is about being competitive if we're giving up on being in the race 7 weeks before a ball is kicked we may as well stick to snake and ladders , we all know we wont be favs but we must expect to compete and look for a top 6 finish if we finish 8th by a point or 2 that would please me but this talk of doing nothing or mid table and denying doom and gloom is just happy clapping

Im just very confident we will be nowhere near the bottom half and will make the play offs at the very very least, and our recent few years form should be enough to prove my faith is correct and not happy clapping. Going totally against that form and achievements of the last five or so years, is doom and gloom and being defeatist imho mate.

my point was that we have to be patient..we have a rep amongst other fans as booing our own, changing managers twice a season etc etc. Should we get of to a bad start or go on a bad run for a few games there will be many on here who will be demanding ramsey be sacked declaring all our new signings to be useless etc etc. Yes we should be aiming to achieve the highest position possible but we should also be aware that the club has gone on record to say we are in a rebuilding process that could take a few seasons. And we as fans need to get behind that
