Even during the best years in Rangers history, the 70's, it seems that attendance at Loftus Road could not get higher then 25k. And during one unforgettable season (1975/76) we were so close to be crowned champions of England. However, it was only at the last game against Leeds (won 2-0) that we manage a big crowd of 35k. Keep in mind that football grounds were not fully seated. For most of the years after, the average attendance was between 14k to 17k.
My point is this. I am mentioning a period of nearly 50 years, during which time, the young supporters grown up, have had children of their own and these kids were expected to become Rangers fans. Its about 2 generations. How come that the core of fans stayed always at the same levels. In 50 years, it should have increased significantly. Maybe lack of success? Children not following in their parents footsteps? If the owners are aiming for a bigger Stadium, Rangers fans must ensure to fill it up. I managed to influence my two boys and although they are not as keen as I am, however they like the R's and do get sad when things are not so good. So one becomes three. I expect that some 14k or 17k that goes to Loftus Road on permanent basis, should have made a significant difference to that static numbers!
We are a small club with a small fan base, always have been as you rightly say. I always feel we are a club punching above our weight when we grace the prem league. bit like a wigan or a Hull, clubs of that sort of size. Doesn't help when we have 3 other pro clubs all within a 4 mile radius of our club, even in the 90s when we had possible our second best 11 ever we were getting 15/16k at home with away support. Just dont think the support is there, im sure if we went up stayed up and started to find our feet in the top league, the we could possibly get 25k, cant see us filling a 40k stadium ever, not even if we won the ****** prem!

this is about right ,a lot of people assume once up we will be getting 40k as we will be a nailed on top 6 side , relegation or promotion doesn't enter there thinking

although I went to school in Ladbroke Grove, in the late 60's, early 70's, vast majority were Chelsea, it made me stauncher Rangers. Glory hunting ******s of today, when I first stepped into LR we were getting 4,000 odd and a struggling 3rd Division side, but I still thought we were the best team in the world

Agree, Leonardis didn't look over the cliff at the 500k Persians and proclaim sod this for a game of soldiers lets go home to Sparta and get a happy meal on the way.
He stood his ground with the brave free 300 against the tyrannical masses who may have all the wealth and success. Aren't we few QPR fans a modern day Sparta, we stand for decency, loyalty and integrity. We few aren't sheep that sell our soul for being in the in crowd or having a Torres blazened on our back.
Loftus Road may not sell quality organic burgers within 30 seconds of joining the queue or cold beer but it's our home where memories are past down generation by generation.
I occasionally run from and to work in my QPR training top and always get greeted by a U R'sss by a stranger. You see two blokes in Chelsea tops cross each other, not even an acknowledgement one of them may as well be wearing a Barca top.
It's this togetherness, the minority against the majority. we've all been teased at school by the hoardes of heathen Chelsea fans that what makes us who we are, wealth and success means nothing compared to be true to yourself and knowing where you have come from.
This is why i have bequeathed to my child that U are QPR.

Typical posts by typical small minded QPR fans. Do you think Saints are gutted they moved from The Dell? At first some maybe were, but now? No chance. It's a modern world so try joining it.
