yeah and looked what happened to them..................slaughtered............god you're not scottish are you
I don't care much whether he goes or if he stays, I just don't think the decision should be made by a humiliating vote like this.

The mods/admins have made their case for doing it this way and I sympathise with their dilemma.

When people are unable to justify their opinions, its usually because they haven't reached them independently.

Notice none of the posts in response to my 'little dig' (its an observation!) actually put forward an argument against what I said

So because people have opinions that you THINK cannot be justified they are sheep who cant think for themselves? sounds like you have a bad case of narcissism or some disorder that makes you believe your opinion is better and more justifiable than others

Geng: The overwhelming majority of people posting on here do think for themselves. It does you no credit to suggest otherwise. I can't understand why posters pick fights. Fights happen in the heat of the moment, sure, but the eagerness of some to endlessly and always belittle others to assert their superiority (to themselves?) is sickening.

I'm not picking a fight, and I'm not saying that every single person on this forum fails to think for themselves.

I'm just noting that this forum has a tendency to descend into groupthink, where most posters jump on board whatever opinion-bandwagon has just set off.

If I seem like I'm criticising people for not thinking for themselves, its because I want to encourage good debate and that only comes about when people justify their opinions

A lot of people think for themselves but don't feel it necessary to ram those thoughts down the throats of others. Share them maybe......
well said that man.....we can all make ourselves "characters" and chat about playing Rob Green up front with Remy, don't make much sense but hey i can think for myself.

Very eloquently phrased mate. You are right, he has done himself no favours. (Think that's my opinion and not just jumping on your bandwagon) And to think I was defending him. Oh well, live and learn.

Again, I don't see how you can note that - it is based on an assumption by you. Just because posters agree with each other now and then, it doesn't mean they can't think for themselves - they may just be thinking the same thing! In any event, you are very unlikely to provoke intelligent debate by insulting them.

"Steve, do you think 25k is a good option when there are indications that within four years, new stadiums on average have increased attendances of 60%?
For us that would mean around 29k."
