Actually, in the last census you could put English as an ethnicity. It was the result of a long campaign to ensure English identity was maintained and not consumed by Britishness. I am therefore legally allowed to consider myself as English and not British even though I have to have a British passport because that is the state, not nation.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Anyway GB won the football, and they are representing England, and Wales even if the Welsh lads didn't sing, when they should, and as for the anthem being about German woman as someone said earlier, I think someone should point this out to the bratwurst nibblers and maybe they might like to let us win the odd penalty shootout!!

Yea, Honduras knocked them out haha. Uruguay, they got beat by Senegal earlier didn't they? There was a lot of doom and gloom about our chances, I must admit I've never followed Olympic football before. Don't think the pundits have either

"I'd be interested to see how you'd get on in Glasgow by telling some communites there that they are British whether they like it or not. The Republic of Ireland is also part of the British Isles. The people there are British too? I'd also like to see you make that statement in Ireland."

Historically its a complex issue and I agree that certain people would not appreciate such a statement, that doesnt make it any the less true though.

There is a subtle difference and that is the welsh and Scots are politically british by way of conquest although in terms of blood lines they are likely to be far more british than english people generally.

Yes Uruguay have some top players, should be an interesting game. Pundits job is to be controversial so they usually get it well wrong, do you remember when Rodney Marsh had to shave his barnet when he said Bradford would go down haha?

I do mate that was hilarious!, i used to find him really entertaining with his old Indian sayings, and his outrageous predictions, funny as when he had to have his head shaved on the pitch

trying to ignore the whole thing but im hoping for under 10 medals and then Cameron and Boris can go **** themselves for ever thinking this immense waste of money was a good idea. I have relatives in hospitals that havent the equipment to help them while upper crust bureaucratic ****s to and fro around events in their own private lanes!. Billions spent on this travesty in an economy where the government is screwing me as a small business owner left right and center. Shameful.

Now my little loony you cannot deny that these measures have been brought in by left wing governments, there are schools in this country that don't even offer pe or sports days anymore.
In case your maths ain't up to snuff loony the last olympics was 4 years ago, so perhaps you might want to have a little think before you come back mouthing off to me and making a fool of yourself foriegner!
I read the title, whose question was posed after just ONE full day of competition. The implication of the question was clear, as you went on to mumble the usual old ******** about a lack of competition in schools. You were suggesting that GB not winning a medal on day one reflected a general athletic malaise in this country. My response was to point out that actually, our country is extremely successful compared to the great majority of nations. But the main point was that you should not start mouthing off after one day out two weeks, or you are going to look foolish. That is still my position.
