Barton in nightclub brawl

Too many so-called "men" these days, pick up their skirts and shriek whenever lads like Joey Barton behave, well, like lads tend to behave while out on the lash all night.Comment

40 years I've supported The Hoops and I've never been so ashamed of a player associated with the club. Barton has long outstayed his welcome - he is tarnishing the good name of QPR.Comment

Nonsense. Mark Dennis didn't "tarnish", whatever that means, the good name of Queen's Park Rangers, did he?
Neither will Joey Barton.Comment

Point is; wrong place at the wrong time. No gender issue at all, as I see it.
No dig at you, fellow Ranger. I just feel bad about the incident.

Let's all applaud him. Shirt off outside a night club , covered in blood with his girlfriend crying next to him. Just the image we want for our club. Some of you need to take a look at yourself.Comment

Drunken brawls outside pubs/clubs is about the least dignified any 'man' can behave.
In this case however, I'll wait to find out what happened. It's possible he bears some responsibility, but given the mindset of some drunken beetle-brains, it's perfectly possible some idiot has recognised him, and just punched him in the face.
Barton is perfectly within his rights to be having a night out, without being assaulted. I'm not going to #### him off for this, without knowing the details.Comment

I like JB but I'm not really that surprised he got a smack. Disgrace to the good name of QPR though? Slightly over the top I think.Comment

But this is where all you Barton apologists get it so wrong. Maybe in this case he was provoked, just like at Man City, but that's the point: everyone knows he is easy to get a reaction out of, be it thick thugs outside nightclubs or cynical defenders. He is walking time-bomb and because of that a liability. As for the "lads will be lads" attitude, well that is a) pathetic and b) completely overlooks the fact that we are able to pay players £70,000 a week precisely because of all the sponsorship, image rights, TV rights etc etc and that is all dependent on our club not being brought into disrepute.Comment
