It's important though. It's precisely the attitude that homosexuality is something to be vilified or mocked that mean that some footballers have to hide their true selves.
The last player brave enough to come out, ended up committing suicide.
In this day and age, it appears that football is one of the last bastions of institutionalised homophobia, and it's terribly sad. It's good to see that the PFA are looking to address this.
We, as a group of fans have just given massive stick to John Terry for alleged racism, but some of us are still happy that homophobia is just funny, and that gays are "Disgusting and should not be given the time of day" to quote another poster in this thread.
It's rank hypocrisy at best.
