Faurlin didnt need a work permit - Italian or Spanish roots so qualifies as EU.

Or get a first refusal option on him. Therefore if he shows his potential, we can sign him for however much we were going to before any other club

Just seen this on newsnow. Thought I would just add for posters to view.
Henrique move to QPR still a possibility!
Does anyone think this has got anything to do with the Faurlin case?
The FA thinking it's similar to that signing and don't want to look foolish again.
So insisting on it being finalised before sanctioning it

I think we are being very very careful with this one cos of past experiences with the Faurlin saga.

Sao Paulo insist striker Henrique could still sign for Queens Park Rangers and deny he has been refused a work-permit.

I am hopeful they will work out a mutually agreeable deal. It can be a nominal fee now with add ons for appearences, or if not reached, they have first option to buy back at a pre agreed fee. It could be calculated to effectively be the same deal. If he was going to be classed a success after 18 months for us to sign him on the original plan, estimate how many games he'd have played in that time and use that as the benchmark.

If he doesn't succeed he won't play enough so we won't pay add ons and they choose to (if they want) take him back for a small fee, if they don't we've not really lost out because we only paid a small fee in the first place.

Hughes wanted this guy as he mentioned him as soon as he came through the door, so you'd think if there's still a chance to get him we'd do whatever we can to secure him. Plus they could make loads from marketing with a load of Henrique / Brazil branded stuff in the shop as fans would lap it up.

The main reason they should pursue this though imo is that he could (COULD) become a superstar for us, similar to Junninho at Boro who was at the time nothing special in Brazil but stood out over here.

Wish we'd stop wasting time on this tbh.

Yes the kid MIGHT be good in 2-3 years time but for now we need a player that knows this league inside out to help us get goals & don't think Henrique is the answer.

                    Move along!!

If Hughes wants him now,we should buy him,if he thinks he is one for the future buy him then

With brazilians that come to europe they tend to maintain their value to brazilian clubs back home no matter how they perform. I reckon if we did buy him for say £6mil and he didn't do well then a club would take him back for about the same price, especially with their links with 3rd party ownership

Ric , I always respect your opinions on here but i think you're missing the point. Hughes identified this kid immediately as someone he wants, therefore must have seen somethign that he really likes and be very confident he will be ideal for the prem.

If a bit of perseverance is required to get his first target then it is surely time well spent if it comes off.

Also, who's to say he couldn't do a job immediately...? He's just been voted best player in a tournament with most of the best young talent in the world playing. The fact he has struggled to break into a top Brazil side shouldn't lead us to assume he couldn't be good for us as there must be loads of really good players over there that we never hear about and it must be hard to break through. We on the other hand have the likes of Mackie, Smith, Bothroyd, DJ Campbell playing for us.... none of which i'd class as top flight players.

Also, you need to take into account the whole plan for the club is a building project which will take years to come to fruition, so if MH wants this kid here, even if he may not be a top player for 2-3 years then we should embrace that and develope him. Many top european clubs take south americans at a very young age, knowing they won't be ready for years, because they are confident they will be good in the long run... Messi went to Barca at 13 for example.

Anyway, MH has an eye for an overseas player as he's proven, and if he wants, we should get. Some extra negotiation between certain powers that be will not stop us sourcing other targtes also.

It sounds like they want to get rid of this kid for good, they must know something we dont?

They want to get rid of him because he caused some problems in the dressing room after the U20.....he wanted a pay raise, wanted first team action etc etc........I have no doubt if he plays week in week out he will come good. He scored 8 goals in Sao Paulo's 2010 or 2009 (dont remember) Brazilian youth cup triumph ( which is a big deal here in Brazil) but like I said before he is not the answer for our current woes.....worht a punt? definitely.....immeadiate impact? can't see it!!
