Would banning The Stirrers Benefit this Board??

Pete, you and I know the answer to this but how many people have come up to you and said 'Great site, love it' and how many have said anything negertive?

That says it all and it's only Internet talk... reality is different.

I think it's best just to ignore those people and move on.

not so easy when alot of threads are getting hijacked and all go the same route.

Agree with Eddie really. You can't legitimately ban people for being boring (banging on about Gianni, say) but you can ban people for personal insults. I'd like to think I've never insulted anyone on this board and I think the same goes for the vast majority but there are some who can be unpleasant - maybe for them a "three strikes and you are out" warning?

Seriously though Pete, I think you need to look at both sides of the fence. For example Conners thread today was the biggest load of s.hite I have read on here in a long time and I deemed it as a thread hell bent on stirring as did many others. Then you have HA9's continual hijacking of threads, I mean you must also look at what antagonizes other posters as well.

I think there is a fine line between stirring and genuine debate and argument.

on a messageboard a poster cant expect to post thier thoughts or viewpoint without it being challenged. the problem really is the level of the challenge and reactions to it.

what seems to happen here is that threads quite often descend quickly into personal abuse. if you are gong to start banning more people you should look to start with these instances, as for stirrers well there are stirrers on both sides of the fence as far as I can see, you would need to define stirring and then act on that definition regardless of the posters affiliation. I have mentioned before that threads are set up to cause arguments and a lot of these come from what I would call the pro paladini faction. if you police the board fairly and consistently in conjunction with a defined set of rules that you can have little complaint after all there are plenty of other places people can go to if they dont like it.

however if you simply ban people who dont match your own or the board owners viewpoint then you will simply have a happy clappy cliche with lots of in jokes and a bit of banter but that can quickly become stale

Sorry, mate. But they don't get bored. They enjoy harassing people with different opinions to theirs. Like religious fundamentalists, their's is the one true faith and disbelievers must be abused. You're better off without them and we can talk about the football.

Sorry Pete just re-read the thread in question,and i think what Dave says is correct.

He asks a valid question regarding leaks from within the club,you get all hot under the collar,then in return he suggest are you really the right person to be representing this board and its posters.

On too other so called "Stirrers",you mean the ones who choose to go against the grain ?.Are they that aggresive and rude that some posters feel they can`t post.

Myu, this board is becoming like a playground.

I'm not talking about widespread banning just a handful. I have no issues with the majority.

I've had enough of taken the flack at games for people who want simply to stir and thats because we have become far to lenient with the stirrers on this board.

We have a fresh start now with the club and I want to get back to making this an enjoyable site. So many fans on here have a great sense of humor, but its being let down by each and every thread being hijacked.

Not sure 3 strikes are needed to be fair , the offenders know who they are, coz they do it deliberately to wind people up.

I reckon an official last warning to everyone thread should be issued .
As of tomorrow , best behavior or pish orf !

Possibly to add fairness , the offending post could be put to a poll.

I must add deferences of option is a must for any board or it will surely die, a happy , loving , content , mary poppins death .
However personal insults and name calling is fooking childish and should be punished with the naughty corner.

I can deal with a difference of opinion.

I've just allowed to things to build up over a year. I used to think other sites that banned supporters were in the wrong, but to be fair its probably the best thing they ever done.
