    Chair

We seem to fare badly when Chair starts. Can’t quite put my finger on it but he slows down play, can be selfish and lacks pace/physicality

I’d like a front 4 against Southampton of

    Poku
    Saito
    Burrell
    Kone

    Thoughts?

But, you've just put your finger on it.

Have said for years, great servant but ultimately he's not the talisman he and the seemingly the club (at least the social media team) thinks he is. He's not Adel.

Ilias does seem something of an enigma and has been so for some time. I think he can still be an important player for us but only if he can conform to a team plan. We look exceptionally poor when he tries to run the show.
Could he be an effective captain? Just saying....

It was very stark yesterday that Chair lack's Saito's speed and directness. I doubt there's much between them in a foot race but Saito covers the ground quicker by dint of not fannying about with twists, turns and step-overs and picking more intelligent lines of travel. I recall one instance where Chair was released apparently in and through on the left but ended up drifting in to the heart of their defence and getting swamped.

I just don't see Chair as an effective wide player, I'd rather see him play more centrally pulling tne strings. Talking of which.... I like Vale, think he has something about him BUT he is NOT a winger. With Chair on one wing and Vale on the other we were hopeless - I would prefer to see Vale more central too and leave Saito, Poku and Smyth as our wingers.

He’s not good enough and makes Madsen worse by trying to run the show even though he is not as good at it. Slows things down, one trick pony ((going sideways passing or shooting), not covering enough ground, negative and not giving the other players any energy (see his body language and stare at Esquerdinha when he choose to shoot instead of passing the ball to Madsen). Sell him or just let him go. 100% not good for the morale in the team - “mini Bellingham’.

Whilst I’m 100% not a fan of turning on our own players - I agree ☝️- Chair is not a starter for me and good point about his negative aura, it really does show unfortunately

I hope Stephan has the courage to drop him/ speak to him about his poor attitude

In his defence Chair did set up the goal yesterday, I thought he did okay but faded later and was substituted, I'm guessing he's still finding his fitness.
I think Chair and Saito would be a great partnership, yes Chair can hang onto the ball too long but he does look for movement in and around the box, but we can look static at times.

We desperately need a ball winner in midfield, we are happy to stand off teams and let them play but when we go behind and we need to regain possession we still tend to stand off teams far too much.

He didn’t set up the goal, it was a lucky shot which was handled badly by their keeper.

He’s a great player but we need to sort out how to play him. Personally thing problem is playing Kone and Burrell squeezes the creative spots available . I think we need to play one of Kone/burrell with saito chair and probably Poku. And field left back as adds heading strength to team both ends. We seem to have stopped using dunne as target in set pieces

No, it was a fantastic shot that was well saved!

Chair, 10 shots without scoring. Burrell, 14 shots for 4 goals.

IMO, takes too many shots from distance.

Disagree. If he hadn 't pressured the keeper, that goal didn't happen.
