Reckon it would be out there of we had approached the club.
Unless Birmingham have a professional board who don't contact the media unless they need to.

    • Most clubs do have boards like that.

Dont really work like that when you are having your manager nicked off you. You scream loud and coat the thieves off.

          Every club works differently.

No point distracting the manager and players if you dont need to.

          • Then maybe we did not approach or maybe found out about the buy out clause and run away so they can do it on the cheap.

Looks like we do now eh.
Different manager as favourite all the time and nobody in the press or anywhere else for that matter having a single clue who its going to be.
One good thing out of this.

Most approaches only happen when things have gone through 3rd parties or agents already to sound someone out on the quiet to see if they would welcome an approach. If the response is favorable then an official approach is made. I can't see a single reason for Rowett to even consider us which would explain why "no official approach" was made.

Agree. Surely an agent is involved somewhere along the line.

                  • Really think so Kevin? If they had a clue they would target one man and one man only and if that does not happen then open it up. To sack JFH and not know who you want to replace him is laughable to say the least. Anyone who thinks Holloway was 1st choice are deluded as he was on SKY on saturday saying JFH was hard done by.

Wasn't Redknapp on MOTD saying something similar about Hughes just before he got the hotseat?

                      • Redknapp is a businessman who manages football teams and Ollie is just a pundit who managed teams. They always say never go back as never thecsame 2nd time around.

                        • Olly's probably won as much as HR

                          • My point is Redknapp when saying it had it in mind about our job where Ollie was more genuine.

                            • Would love Rowett, personaly, think he is a very good manager. He would be mad to leave Brum to join our circus though.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

                              • We are prepared to spend £2.5m on a league one centre forward and then play him left wing or in an isolated role that doesn’t suit him.

Why not go and invest just a little bit on the most important role at the club and get Rowett in

He’s ambitious and taken Birmingham as far as he can. Last year when he was linked and before it became clear he wouldn’t get the job (despite being a better candidate than Jimmy) bfor no clear reason other than he wasn’t black- he wasn’t exactly putting us or Fulham off coming to get him…

“They’re two excellent jobs with ex-Premier League sides, but I’m extremely focussed on what we’re trying to do at Birmingham City.”

If you want to know why he would join us over Birmingham have a look at his summer signings. A free for a kid let go by Liverpool and a small amount on a Dundee and Sheffield United player.

He could only dream of spending the sort of cash we have spent on Bidwell, Yeni, Polter, Washington, Luongo, Lynch, Borysiuk, Cousins, and Sylla don’t forget those still here like Smithies Caulker, Sandro, Chery and Onouha who would walk into that Birmingham side.

We like to do ourselves down but the problem with this club is the poor managers. The players are there and Rowett being a good manager knows that he could make us promotion contenders and miles ahead of the pony squad he has at Brum
