Happy with this sort of signing
Another player who will see Rangers as a step up and a relatively cheap fee
The days of us signings players on reputation alone I.e Sandro are hopefully long goneWe Are The People.....Comment

Everyone knows the financial restrictions the club has been under since since FFP and getting relegated, so why keep whining about it endlessly? Genuinely I'm baffled by your posts sometimes Hits.Comment

No problem with signing 2 or 3 prospects from lower division. Sign the whole team from division 1 and there is every chance that's where we will end up.Comment

I am happy to sign players from lower leagues, but we bought the duo from Swindon over summer and found that one isn't quite up to it yet, and the other has struggled for consistency even though he is an international. The difference with this player is that this chap is a couple of years older and his stats don't jump out at you and make you think there is a chance at he will make the squad (never mind the team). I might be wrong but this isn't inspiring.Comment

Different players develop at different times in their career, maybe this guy is just a late bloomer.I am happy to sign players from lower leagues, but we bought the duo from Swindon over summer and found that one isn't quite up to it yet, and the other has struggled for consistency even though he is an international. As for the 2 from Swindon, I'm pretty sure Luongo was the one we were actually after but he had a big sell on clause with Spurs. I think Gladwin was chucked in as a vehicle to hide some of the Luongo transfer fee, therefore dodging having to give Spurs a big chunk of the money. What I'm basically saying is that Gladwin was always a punt!
I'll add that I also think Luongo is a great signing. We're a far better team with him in the side. I think when Jimmy has his own players in next season we might see Luongo played a bit further up the pitch where I believe he will do well.Comment

Christ almighty, this thread
I would say let's give the lad a farking chance before writing him off, but that'll fall on deaf ears for the ones who find any excuse at all to moan.

Type of signing that we should be looking to do more of.
More success than failure with these types of signings... Club finally doing what a lot of us having been crying out for them to do!Comment

If he was a 27 year old from non league football with great stats I would be happy with the punt. His stats don't seem great (I have never seen him play) so I question how he will do when he makes a step up in quality (if he makes the team). I have wanted to see how Blackwood would do all season so want the club to unearth hidden gems, but just because someone is cheap doesn't make them a bargainComment

So just when did we turn into Barcelona? Should we just sign players with Champions League potential as we are obviously such a MAHUSIVE club? Have you learned nothing from the last few mainly miserable years?
If you want high level players they will mainly just join a relatively small club like us for the money and because they want to move elsewhere fairly quickly. That blatantly hasn't worked and is to a degree why we got ourselves into the mess we have.
El Khayati has been bought for a small sum in footballing terms, this is a massive opportunity for him and JFH knows him. I'm not expecting anything more than a squad player and am happy with that. We could easily lose Phillips, Fer, Hoilett and Chery over the next six months and will need some competition/cover in wide areas and gather this guy can play out wide or up front where we are also short.
I'd actually say Luongo has looked pretty impressive in his first season at this level and should have played more than he has. No idea why things haven't worked so far with his mate but that's football. Fergie made plenty of signings over the years that didn't work and some that did but took a while to get going. That's what happens when dealing with people as opposed to robots.Comment

The manager has seen him every single day for don't know how long, don't you think he might know a bit more than you or the rest of us?If he was a 27 year old from non league football with great stats I would be happy with the punt.
