I think QPR are selling Austin far too cheaply.

Southampton want 15M for Clynne whom is 24 and has one year left on his contract.

The only real difference is they are still in the Premiership, but he is a full back and they are always cheaper than goalscorers.

It’s a pity that QPR didn’t put a price tag of £20M and say he was only available for a limited time i.e. until 24th July. If no deal is done by then, he will remain at the club until at least January.

Agree forwards more expensive then defenders so if they want £15mil for Clyne that's minimum we should expect

Austin wouldn't stay even if we offered triple his wages. He wants out to play in the premiership, all this keep him talk is just wishing, cos if we could keep him we would. He wants out, not the board wants a few quid back.

A youngish, proven, English Premiership quality striker, Austin ticks all the right boxes, and with Chelsea, West Ham and Newcastle sniffing around (and Newcastle apparently tabling a £14M bid already) I expect to see his price rise.

Totally agree on Carroll a complete joke and will never happen again, that was because Liverpool had money to burn and the did burn it, clubs will not do that now and i honestly cant see Austin being involved in a auction , clubs will test our desire, but he is not in the sort of demand that web sites and news agency's will have you believe. Yes clubs will want him but not in an any price scenario.

I cant disagree with his stats. But if he was judged purely on goals one of the big boys wouldve snapped him up. It just seems the only realistic clubs are mid table or lower and they will try and haggle as their budgets are smaller. His contract situation means we either accept a reduced fee to what he would normally be worth (with normal contract) or we roll the dice next season and hope he fires us to promotion. If he doesnt, he will walk for free no questions and we will be in the same situation as now but without our best player and no money to show from him to reinvest. It depends on what the board fancy doing

Not sure how enforcable that is, but I agree, would be lovely to set down such a principle. Last thing we need is another "Remy" scenario.

Very enforceable I would imagine. And the best way of proving it is to do it and watch the outcry from everyone else when they realise we were in fact deadly serious.

Agree Dave. The last thing we need is this dragging on until late august and possibly deadline day and not being able to bring in a replacement in time.

I vote for the latter. Sell Fer & Caulker for £12-15M instead and keep Phillips and Austin to do what they did 2 seasons ago, create and score goals to take QPR into the top two.

Thats fair enough but its easier to go for that option when it its not your money being invested. There are no guarantees in football (that austin will fire us to promotion) whereas taking the money for austin now would be viewed as the better business decision and allow reinforcements to be bought through the money raised from Austin. This is where the board and particularly DOF earn their money with these decisions.

Even if we can bring in replacements, it's not ideal that they have not had a pre-season with their new teammates.

As someone pointed out earlier, contracts usually run until the end of June, so if that is the case, I see no reason why they shouldn't usually start on the 1st July. It would stop a lot of this dicking about.

Austin left two months before the end of last season. That's when he looked uninterested in our cause and gave up his hard work in our opponents box. You cannot keep a player against his will. If his heart is set elsewhere, then we're done. Adel was similar in a way. He just used the R's to put himself in the shop window and when nothing materialized, he just just gave up his commitment. I am sorry to say this, but in Austin case we may have something similar, maybe not as bad as Adel.....however, he may not be as prolific in the CCC as everyone is predicting.

No he never.Austin scored against WBA and Villa in April and tried his best against Chelsra too. He missed a penalty against West Ham.not much was creared at Man City although he had an effort ruled out.

He is still under contract, just as Sterling is st Liverpool and Suarez was before him. They had a valuation and unless it was metthe player stays.
Let Austin mope and sulk next season if he doesnt want to play and see what that does for his reputation.
If the club does not get an acceptable offer, keep him.

Fair point but there is also the risk in those reinforcements being sh-it. Just ask Spurs and Liverpool fans after Bale and Suarez were sold and the funds reinvested.
