The situation with Remy was difficult. Because of the release clause we had no choice. With Charlie unless it happens within a reasonable period we will struggle to fill the void with a couple of decent strikers. In those circumstances would arguably make more sense to keep him for the season and let him leave on a free next summer as we would have a far better chance of promotion with him in the side and the financial benefits that brings.

Would be disappointed if less than £15m and if enough sides put bids in could see it being higher than that.

Like to seem him treat his players like animals if they get relegated and Joe Lewis tightens the purse strings and wants to make savings which is the position we are in.

Just seen that..............All day Long?!!! Ha ha

Probably nonsense to be fair but if it's true I think I'd still hold out for 15m. 5m extra cash in our pockets will go a long way in terms of buying Championship quality players. We don't need to take Shane Long just because Southampton want rid of him!

I have to admit that would be a very good deal - I like Shane Long, think he is a good player. Whilst not as prolific at Austin, he would certainly bag some goals in the Championship, real live wire of a player.

They're hardly being treated like animals Gary. It's just about protecting the club's best interests.

Amazing deal, getting ten million and a bloke who will score about four or five goals less..

Shane Long is hardly prolific is he?

Yes, he will probably get goals in the Championship it's not a given. His strike rate is worse than 1 in 4 from his time in the Prem.

Would put money on him getting 10 to 15 and Chas getting 15 to 20 in the championship. That will do with ten mill in the bank.

They bought Long for £12mil, would be v surprised if this happened!

Was it as much as that?.....That's a lot of cash! We should put Charlies price tag up to 25m in that case!

I can't see it either to be honest. If Long was available for transfer he would get offers from the Premier League!

He banged in 21 league goals last time otu in the Championship. Like ya say, him plus £10m cash to play with is not a bad deal at all IMO. With, say, a straight £15m, we will be paying a huge premium on any potential relacements as selling clubs will be looking to fleece us. Yes, they still will with £10m plus Long, but at least this way we already havea bl00dy good striker on the books anyway before we bring in another.

All day long. Doubt we could get a comparable player for around 5 mill mark
