Is that the same parent that earns all the income for the family in the first place?

So he can gamble it away? And would he still earn it if the family turned away from him?

When the new stadium is built, there'll be the sale of naming rights, increased commercial activity, higher advertising revenues and ticket sales, along with more TV money. Can't see why long term we can't break even. The shareholders are probably taking the long term view with this as well.

We definitely need to keep an eye on the wage bill though. I guess all clubs have the same problem.

Parachute millions, will ease the pain, even better if we stay up.

And that 'new' add on property comp, will be the new development slush fund comp.

They year before we were got relegated the highest wage bill in the Championship was with was Bolton at £37.4m. In the same year in the PL we had a wage bill of £78m. Only 6 PL clubs had a higher wage bill than us. We reduced that by £2.7m when relegated and ended with a wage to turnover ration of 195%. Not sure any other Championship team would have got close to that. (wages including Social Security costs).

The FFP rules were changed recently after a vote. Can't see how they can do us under the old rules.

Besides, I'm sure the lawyers took a good look at this before the write-off occurred.

Personally, I think that this highlights just how badly both the players and management staff have so woefully under performed over the last couple of years.
