Originally posted by Geng View Posthah, hadn't seen this before my reply in the lowbrow thread. But this is a *perfect* example of what I'm talking about. You're so confused at the fact someone could be critical about the club's current owners while still being a QPR fan that you instantly dismiss it as being pointlessly negative, or same old whinging etc.
Why not look at what people criticising TF actually have to say? Or, better yet, ask yourself how we've put on several hundred million in debt only to find ourselves exactly back where we started albeit with a worse team. And then ask yourself how going for a loudmouthed unemployed English manager for the third time in a row is going to help things, again.
As for what we need, I think most of us would agree that given a choice we would not start from here. I would have replaced Harry in the summer and then we cd have been adventurous. Now we have no choice but to be short termist to survive. On that basis it has to be Pullis. To those who argue we wd get bored of his style I wd simply point you to Charlton - they sacked Curbishley because "he had taken them as far as he cd." And look at them ever since. Survival in the prem is probably as high as we can aim. Nobody has talked about the four yr plan and champions league with a straight face for a long, long time.

And not only is Hughes doing a better job with Stoke, Our other ex manager Warnock is currently doing just as good a job with Palace as Pulis did. There form hasn't dipped from last season.
For me Sherwood gets us back to basics in the sense of being a proper coach who will not only look at bringing the youth team players through, and improving them but will look at bringing in lesser name players, who want to play for the club and who want to learn. His league record for Spurs was pretty impressive, although he needs to learn when to keep his mouth shut.He will also sort out alot of the shirkers we have in our current squad, and he also has a good relationship with Les.No brainier for me.

All Pulis will do is sign big name players on big wages who will carry on the horrible vicious circle we are going around...although it's a circle that starts with Tony/Phil.
Our philosophy as a club has always been to bring through local talent and supplement that with unearthing talent from the lower leagues, and helping these players to fulfill their potential.
We need to invest in the academy and scouting system and once we start unearthing these gems again, what Tony's money will allow us to do is to keep some of these players a little longer as we don't need the dough and we could eventually build something really good. Here's hoping!

Sorry, but I don't think we can gamble on a novice, because that's what he is.Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

I'm glad that these 3 ain't the only available managers in the world. Surely when Harry has gone there will be lot's of applications for the job and there could be much more better candidates than we are currently talkin about. Somehow i would love to have foreign manager with decent CV,but maybe i'm just Koeman/Pocchettino bandwagon

Not the popular choice I know but I'd go with Sherwood. Yes, the guy is a bit of a plum but I think he would be the best pick in the long run and I also feel he has enough about him to keep us up.
For as long as I can remember, the biggest gripe with most QPR fans has been the reluctance to play youth players or to shake things up from the managers favourites when things aren't going right. I can guarantee you that Sherwood will not be frightened to pick youth players, sign younger players or drop established players if they aren't performing or pulling their weight!

Don't want any of the above if I'm honest and certainly not Pulis !!
Would prefer a Howe or Robinson type appointment with a clear philosophy on how we're going to play with the onus on working with the current squad and actually trying to improve these players rather than just buying more and more players
The whole ethos of the club needs to change and if that means getting relegated ( again) then so be itWe Are The People.....

It is as bad as other fans calling all west African players lazy.

1st para. Yeah, fair point. I guess what I'm getting at is more about skills, experience and mindset than nationality per se. So Sherwood and Magath would count on the dinosaur side of things, despite the differences in age and nationality; Martinez, Rodgers, Lambert etc, would all be on the modern, progressive side, even if the latter two are from the UK.
So I'd be very happy with the next Brendan Rodgers, whoever that is. (I don't know, but Fernandes and Beard should be aware and if they aren't it's a massive dereliction of their responsibility. I'd be shocked if the 'shortlist' post-Harry isn't just three people TF already knows anyway though).
2nd para. At this point I'm basically anyone but Harry. His Bosingwa-esque 'only here till my contract runs out *shrug*' attitude has infected the players, who clearly don't give two shets about playing for us, or for him.
Pulis is clearly a pretty good option in the short-term, he may well keep us up. A decent PL manager should be able to get 40 points out of this squad.
But I worry that:
a) Pulis' schtick won't work with us. At Palace he took over a bunch of no-hopers and inspired them with backs against the wall, world-is-against-us stuff. At QPR the challenge is rather different. Our first XI is full of players who would consider themselves comfortable PL players, people who wouldn't be out of place (certainly in reputation terms) at a Newcastle a Swansea or a Southampton.
We clearly need to be better organised but I'm not sure what worked with Damien Delaney or Cameron Jerome would be as effective with Sandro, Isla or Fer.
b) He sounds like a bit too much of a control freak to get on with TF. The secret footballer (Dave Kitson) has some interesting things to say about him
c) We'll just be here again in another year or two. Pulis is essentially what Harry was in November 2012: the high-profile, PL-experienced, unemployed English media favourite; the obvious choice. People said all these same 'perfect man for the job', 'player will work for him', 'won't tolerate wasters', 'he'll keep us up' sort of things back then.
I thought Harry was a bit of a charlatan before he joined us and I certainly don't think that's the case with Pulis. But is he the man for long-term success? The guy to eventually break us out of this cycle? I'm not so sure.
