WBA looked one of the poorest WBA teams that I have seen for many a year. 3 points gifted by Julien’s choice of starting 11 and set up. We have several players who can be described as game influencing. To start without any of them is, to my mind, stupid. Sorry, but there you have it.

All I can think is stefan is still experimenting. I really wouldn’t change 3 of the back 4 one game to the next or play Field as a sort of no 10 when we have so many options there. Last 10 minutes no structure and players didn’t know what system they were playing. Disappointing to say the least

Why so many changes , we were all over the place at times and just didn't match them for fight .
Hamer weak for the 1st goal even though it was a foul you can't climb over a player like that ....
You can't change 3 out of the back 4 unless there's injuries.....
Saito gets worse each time he plays ,the fella is weak and gets knocked off the ball all the time .
I know we play Thursday and Sunday but this was a winnable game , Burrell should have started as kone looks like a statue at times...
Poor team selection and poor effort we lost to a team that were not better than us they just put 20% more effort into it .

Just got back. What a load of rubbish! Teams will be chomping at the bit to play us on their own patches - we play like pansies and gift the ball away all game. If our home form starts slipping we'll slide down the table. Good job we have points in the bank cos I can't us piling many points up over coming months given how fragile we are when any of our first team are missing.

That loss falls at the feet of the manager.....again. may aswell told the fans to stay at home. Driving up there to watch that crap. Hamer is no better than nardi. Any keeper that stays on their line while the ball drops under the crossbar is a spoofer. Wouldn't come out all night when yiu could see their only way of scoring was viaa set piece.
Saito was clearly injured and couldn't even run for the last 10 mins. Why wasn't Smyth brought on? Same for madsen who needs a break. We have all these options but JS thought playing field off kone was a good idea!!! Field is awful. Just stick at lcb or cdm. Hes got nothing to offer anywhere else.
The left back is miles out of his depth. Not fit, wont tackle, gives the ball away and wont track back. Pls sign a lb in jan. What tonight tokd me was we need to sign Edwards. We need a cb who can carry the ball out of the back. Sick of this side to side crap. We created nothing for the whole second half against a team who were scared of their own shadow! Hate this kind of performance or lack of one!!
The manager is still taking too long to maje any changes. He clearly threw the game and wrote it off to save the players for Norwich. Play morgan in midfield for a game pls. Hes got more to offer than Varane who still refuses to move the ball forwards rather than back or sideways. Rant over!!!

I thought Madsen had a decent game and was our only show of quality on the pitch, I'd give Field a solid 7/10 for effort, Poku has a great little run in second half that i thought was the start of some intent but nah....had that gone in may have really changed the mentality.
Other than that really poor.
He must be either experiementing, or is just scared away from home. Brum are a team out of form but getting the odd result and we're a team blowing hot and cold.
We should've setup with our usual defence and started Smyth, not Saito (those two should simply rotate starting vs impact sub as they are the same player for slightly different circumstances, in this case we needed Smyth's strength) and certainly Burrell.
I don't really get managers resting players. We should start strong with a plan to sub off.

Not sure how field is a 7 out of 10. I was thrre abd genuinely didn't know he was playing in the first half. Dont know why kolli wasn't given the last 20. Vale looked like a pub footballer for his "cameo". Vale if yiu are reading this- this is not Chelsea reserves, this is big boys football. Sort yourself out. He was on for 10 mins and was the worst player on the pitch.
We need a striker in jan. Someone that can lead the line. Kone looks tired and doesn't have the pace to lead the attack. If burell gets injured we are in deep s***. Pls sign a full back and a keeper. We have 3 first team keepers and they are all crap. Nardi for me is still our best option. Hamer last night told us all why hes had a career being a back up. Hes never a regular. Poor man's ademole bankole!!

Agree with all the rants. If you pick (and start with) our best 11, I believe we are decent. Unfortunately just behind that we are rather weak. For too many seasons we have had too many passive players. This season that has been highlighted by the attacking way that Burrell and Mbengue play. When neither of those start, we automatically concede the initiative. We then end up chasing the game. Julien cannot rest and rotate (generally speaking). We cannot afford that luxury.
I still think Hayden needs to be a more important part of our team. And, for me, Nardi always our best keeper.

And we are only 3 points of the play offs.
Over the last 6 games we have W3, L2, D1
Coventry W2, L2, D2
Midds W3, L2, D1
Millwall W2, L2, D2
Preston W1,D4,L1
Bristol W2 L3 D1
Stoke W1, D1 L$
in fact out of the top 12 only Ipswich , Hull and Watford have better form.
We are in the mix and We are not as bad as some on here would have you think!

7/10 for effort not necessarily performance, he broke down a fair bit of their play.Originally posted by Dono77 View PostNot sure how field is a 7 out of 10. I think Kone is a decent striker, but only plays well with Burrell on the pitch. I don't think a striker should be on the cards in Jan, not because ours are incredible, but more that we absolutely have to address the full back positions, and goalkeeper.
We are short there and i feel Saito, Dembele and Smyth are asked too much of them as they are all average defensively (especially forst 2) and the midfield are too often lacking options on the flanks. The strikers lack service and the balls coming in direct are too easy to defend. We have to exploit the flanks more and our best performances this season have been when we've been able to.

Very true, but it's the lack of consistency between games that hurt the most. The fact we are still three points off sixth after the haul from the last two games says more about the championship than us.Originally posted by 3London View PostAnd we are only 3 points of the play offs.

Any team going up from this league very poor league is going to get spanked regularly in the premiership.

Said it on page one of this thread , we are useless away from home, we are set up all wrong by the manager. Our centre mids and back four sit too deep and don't press and our front four run around like headless chickens pressing , hoping for a mistake , we generally go behind and are then chasing the game. The only away game we looked ok was Wrexham but even then they had a lot of chances , Blackburn we were ok ish , the rest we were absolutely crap and lacked any effort. The manager seems to have weird tactics and poor selections and his substitutions are generally too late and wrong. I think if we could play with the same attitude and energy away as we have done in the last few home games it may be different but i would be surprised if we win many more away games the way we are playing.

you say that but we are 12th in the table based on away games only (w4 D2 L6) and 11th based on home games only (W6 D2 L3) 14 points away 20 at homeOriginally posted by Harrow QPR View PostSaid it on page one of this thread , we are useless away from home, we are set up all wrong by the manager. At home we have scored 20 and conceded 15 - Away we have scored 14 and conceded 22 (7 in one game ).
So again not as bad as some would make out.

You can show me as many stats as you like but all the games i have watched , away from home we have been rubbish. Wrexham we were good, Bristol and Blackburn acceptable , Swansea rubbish even though we won. Sheff wed , Sheff utd and Pompey rubbish even though we got draws. Watford , Cov, Derby, Norwich , Boro and West brom we were atrocious. It is the negative , toothless and unenergetic performances that i can't stand , we defend deep with no enthusiasm to get forward , go a goal down then start playing better but mostly when we go a goal down we lose. Ask yourself , are you happy with the way we play away from home.Originally posted by 3London View Post
