The return of Kwame Poku to the bench saw Kader Dembele miss out from the matchday squad altogether, although that is not thought to be due to an injury.

Jake Clarke-Salter is thought to be available but is yet to make a squad this term.

Afraid I agree completely with DJ Hooper's post. I want to be optimistic but that would be blind optimism right now.
Also agree that something is so not right, that it hardly even matters who we pick.

I was told it was him who punched a wall after a disagreement with the medical team 4-6 weeks ago.

That's probably the best side we've got available right now but I have to agree with Sheep upthread that Madsen needs to be alongside a solid midfield partner in order to continue his promising improvement. But, Hayden didn't look the part at all on Saturday, including that idiotic foul for the first fk goal. It just reinforces for me that we need a seriously good midfield recruitment in January - I know, cash etc. In the meantime though what we've got will have to do and the alternative to Varane is Morgan, who is at least on the bench. Ilias has a chance to pull some strings in the 10 position here and try to avoid drifting wide. Burrell solo also feels right. The defence feels like the right choice for now as well but they are going to have to contend with uncertainties behind them, which undermines everything. And, they've got Armstrong to handle as well.

I'm not confident, but at least it's a sensible selection this time out.
