Oh dear...the football God has spoken again. A fan who claims to know more about football than everyone yet not only does he nit think we need a striker, but because he played a few times up front for a reserve team it makes him a striker. Brilliantly ironic that you can call someone naive.

Chris samba played up top for Blackburn. George Santos played there for us, as has Fitz Hall...are they strikers too?

I think I've made my point and won't continue this argument as you're far too stubborn to admit you might just be wrong. Doesn't make you a bad person, but you've turned into a bit of a hypocrit of late and don't mind being rude to your mates to get your point accross.

Still, I'll look forward to this argument come Christmas when we're not doing as well as the likes of Forest and Brum who have all strengthened their strike force.

Played 90% of his games up front for SPURS, not just a handful.

I'm just saying everyone seems to want a big name up front, yet so many wanted Tarrabt, if they didn't then I apologise.

I assume, they were judging that on where they saw him play last season, not where he actually plays.

No way will Forest be above us and all I am saying is that, we need to give Tarrabt a chance, thats all and Hegulson for that matter.

      Birmingham are in the premiership.

You have to play devils adovcate sometimes.

Apologies, if it came across as rude

Pete, we need a proven scorer if we're to be taken seriously. Yes...I wanted and still am happy with Taarabt, but he is not a striker. He can play there but he'll not be getting 15 this season.

You know deep down that we need a proven goal scorer as you agreed prior to kick off. Now, if we'd scored 3 or 4 goals with Heider and Taarabt sharing them, I could understand you going back on that, but after seeing Heider put in one of the worst performances by a Rangers player and Taarabt not really doing anything only for our subs to miss 3 pretty clear cut chances between them that you've now decided that our strike force has potential. I just can't work out how you're happy with what we've got.

I understand when you say give them a chance as it's only fair, but either way, we still need someone we actually know can score, ie Beckford.

It's not rocket science. Goals win games and without winning we can't even begin to be classed as genuine contenders. Even you have to admit that you think someone like Beckford would have put away the chances missed by Vine and Heider?

I'd have Beckford, but not at 3 million.

To answer your question who knows?

But, I rate Vine on his day

forget were he played in the reserves. i can see quite clearly that he does not have the ability to play up front.

now to prove your point please list the qualities you think a good striker should have followed by the qualities he has

Pete - why not for £3m?

He has scored over 60 goals in the last two seasons. A whole variety of different types of goals in there with many spectacular ones. If we dong spend it, someone else will and it will most certainly be our loss and no doubt come back on us. I know you can't say for fact, but I'm 110% certain that hell be an instant success and will be important for whoever takes the gamble. For me he's not even a gamble, that's how confident I am in his ability. Most certainly a 20 goal-a-season CCC striker.

£3m for a chance of promotion...is that really too expensive?

              I think not.

personally I doubt taraabt will score anything like 15 unless they drop the offside rule, the likelyhood of him shooting from more than 6 yards and the ball carrying over the line is low unless their is a strong following wind!

all that besides even if he did score 15 we still need to sign a striker

Now I understand that i along with about 90% of the others here are naivie but if you wont pay 3m for beckford, how much would you pay and what is your argument for witholding the difference?

I think its a big gamble. 3million?? half that and its worth a punt

All his goals have been scored in Division 1 against teams we would probably beat every week. All, I am saying is that he scores 2 for Leeds and Helguson hits the bar for us, and we cannot wait 2-3 weeks? We do tend to be for the moment, last year we were saying after the first game how poor Gorkss was, then look what happened. Helguson scores 3 goals in 3 games and we sang for the board to sign him up, (please don't tell me we didn't).

I make the assumption on Tarrbat being a striker in the Tottenham reserves and still maintain he will do well. Its a matter who partners him

Not really, he came last December and in general we played one up front in our mate Sammy De carmine.

I class it has 1 game.

Taarabt is a winger for me, and i remember really wanting to sign Helguson
                              when he was on-loan

We don't have Di Carmine, and we need to get shot of Helguson imo
                              Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                              And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

well our strikers have not been good enough for 1 season and 1 game.

so i class it as 1 season and 1 game.

                                we have waited long enough.
