Don't think the football side of the operation makes an operating profit outside the PL but the Hotel and Conferencing facilities are generally sold out 50 weeks in a year and are a little goldmine. Have a good, long term beneficial rental agreement with London Irish too. Sensible sized stadium and more or less live within their turnover.Originally posted by IsleworthRanger View PostI have always wondered how Majeski done so weel at Reading with such limited resources but he seems to know the secret of running a football club

Spaghetti, don't let them (WeAre and Jeff) tell you that yours is an unreasonable question; it isn't in the least. We cannot compete in the Premiership these days on the gate receipts of an 16,000 attendance even taking into account the TV Money. So, to be competitivie, which is what we hope to become, someone needs to fund the shortfall. If that is through cash (and let's not forget Fernandes has already told us all that he is an 'old fashioned businessman' where 'cash is king') that they GIVE to the club, then happy days. However, the Pompey fans were under the mispprehension that Guidamac (sp?) was doing exactly that when they were winning the FA Cup. It was a bit of a surprise to them all when he sold up and wanted his money back as it was, after all, loans.
If we're funding any shortfall through loans then we should be panicking. I'm all for making the club competitive, but am not so keen on gambling the future of the club I grew up with just to finish 17th and feed on scraps from the big boy's tables year on year. It may work for a few, but history shows that club's of our size living above their means are going one way only.
Our fan base should be looking to that for the re-assurances we want from our owners instead of worrying about short term issues like reverting back to the new badge and even, to a large extent, ticket prices...
I must admit that Fernandes and Bhatia are impressive and believable, but surely that's not enough by itself, is it?

Chelsea Village doesn't exist as an AIM quoted company. Hotels sold to chains, restaurants operated as franchises (Pierre White and Frankie Dettori). The Chelsea Pitch Owners Assoc still prominent, effectively operating as a supporters trust and everything else is wholly owned by Roman's paper thin holding comapanies that make staggering losses year on year.
