Thing is, we were on a run of form (that was soon about to fizzle out), Foxes were floundering and we were widely tipped to cause an upset. It was not on telly, 3pm Saturday and barely 100 miles away. Tickets were cheap, £15 I vaguely recall. We had beaten them in our league visit there 10 months before so hence 4000 Rs travelled only to see a fog-shrouded debacle.

If a game is attractive, fans will attend. It really all comes down to the draw... unfortunately we mostly seem to get a drab unattractive tie and I guess us fans take the view if the club cant be assed then why should I?

I remember a few years ago we drew Peterborough away , we took thousands .
Filled it up behind the goal and the seats to the side.....another pathetic performance , we lost 3 times to them that season I went to all 3 games and they were relegated.....sometimes feel the club don't deserve us .

Normally I'd say who cares about the cup, we are never winning it so why waste our time. If in January we are still mid table and not really pushing for promotion, then yes play a strong team if it's good opposition and give us a chance.

If it's a weak team or we are pushing for promotion, then put out a weaker team and focus on what's important.

having said all of that I’ve no idea what clubs get paid per round and tv but I’d just like us to really have a go at winning a few games
Not a huge amount. Also reduced ticket prices for games that still have police costs.

But there is TV money on top of the piddly prize money. Plus, gate money is split so could be looking at well over £0.5 million as our share for a 5th round tie at a 50,000 ground.

One thing is certain, the best way to not make any money is to meekly capitulate at the first hurdle every year and then go through the motions in the league until May and finish 15th...

Yes, but early rounds are discounted ticket prices, low attendances, shared money with full police costs. It would be great to get a televised game, but these tend to me a big team against as close to a non-league team as possible, or a premiership pairing. We're not what the TV companies are looking for until we progress two rounds.

Id love a cup run and the money. As a mid-table championship side with bigger squad, likely going nowhere, hopefully we csn make a better fist of it this year.

Funnily enough a photo of Clive Allen celebrating his semi-final goal came up on my FB feed the other day. I must admit that brought me some positivity towards the FA Cup.

Very true. Unless we have a magic turnaround we are probably looking again at mid table, so a couple of decent cup games along the way would be welcome from the fans. A win is a win wherever it comes from. And hopefully we can achieve that Saturday. COYR’s

On the positive side, I believe Vauxhall Motors were eliminated in a preliminary round back in August - albeit after a reply - so let's hope now that Luton can knock out Fleetwood tomorrow.

So draw is tomorrow Monday 8th at 6:40pm-ish

Currently only listed as on TNT but I'm sure they'll have it on red button or FA website if you fancy watching some old footy legends shuffling their balls........ it'll probably be a breath of fresh air after that FIFA abomination the other evening.

Y'know after every ball gets drawn the host drops an FA Cup factoid about the team in question, something like "Rovers, three times winners but their last win was in 1905". I'd love it if when our ball got pulled he blankly looked at camera and said "errrrrr.... I've go nothing..." and shrugged his shoulders.

Hopefully home to Swindon and Olly homecoming. They beat Bolton 4-0 yesterday in the Cup and hes got them second in L2. It would a full house too and Swine Down is just down the road.

I dare say someone's already mentioned this on the forum at some stage, but didn't they apply a new name to The Loft Stand recently in honour of our cup performances?

Very vague if/when draw is on BBC.

It IS on TNT Sport YouTube channel at 6:40
