  • Re-instate Marti

Nothing been said or done since the end of the season. Marti never gave any interviews to explain what happened. Likewise, CN. Their relationship was once on a very good terms, so much so that half way through the season, MC was offered an extension to his contract which he gladly accepted and signed. It seems that the heavy home defeat against Burnley was what sparked the negative reactions. Marti said the obvious for most. The club should aim for higher and not just be happy that relegation was once again avoided. Granted that his representatives met WBA. And that left a bad taste. However, everyone will try to better his position. What is sure is that MC declared that he is contracted to us and is happy to stay.
As things stand, he is still being paid on gardening leave. And it will be difficult to affload if there is a releaae clause inserted. We are at the beginning of June and soon a decision is to be made. CN must realise that whatever the aim was to put Marti on gardening leave, he must sit down with him, re-ignite the good relationship that both had a few weeks ago and re-instate Marti in his position.

I do have to agree with you Martin. Surely 2 adults can resolve this problem. We have to be realistic that we won't be attracting a top class manager so with the names being mentioned, we would certainly be better off with Marti being our head coach.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

I felt something was up just before Burnley game. In an i\v he said he was under contract which I thought was very odd to say in the way he did. Marti needs to apologise for his agents if it’s their fault but I suspect not. He’s never stayed anywhere long. The rest of the management team won’t have appreciated him criticising them albeit indirectly. So I think down to Martí

Aside from anything if we don’t resolve it we’ll end up paying Marti until the end of his contract alongside a new manager

Club needs to let us know what is going on .
But we per usual they won't.
If we are giving him his P45 do it soon so we can get out and get someone.

Sorry guys but I have never known a situation like this being resolved after someone put on gardening leave. He is as good as gone.

Yep, is there any precedent of a manager returning to the same club following a period of gardening leave? I wonder how that worked out??

I genuinely liked Marti for most of his tenure, but can't help think that bridges are now burnt some way beyond repair.

He's gone, no coming back from this.
It just wouldn't be the same now anyway.
The fans also have seen another side to him, and that relationship has been ruined.
He won't get away with the 7 game winless run again.

I had never heard of Marti before he arrived and Im sure there are plently of managers out there who can get a team to play boring negative football.

Waive the compensation clause and send him off to La Liga 2

It would not suprise me one bit that Marti comes back. The dane has just turned us down so anything is possible going forward.

Lots of potential managers may be put off with him still here and not resolved.

I've mentioned previously that it would be extremely unwise of the club to replace Marti before he has formally left us. "Gardening Leave" means he's still our employee and we're still paying him - it's a staging post where employees who've badly messed up are placed whilst the employer builds a watertight case for sacking them. We have to complete the process properly and we can't undermine the process by replacing with a permanent manager/coach or whatever. Obviously this whole process must remain confidential.

In the past, Ian Holloway went through the same situation. He was placed on gardening leave. That season he left us or rather been⁷ sacked, however, some years later he was made Manager once again. With QPR you will never know. Stranger things happened along the way!
