As with most on here know nothing about him. Had one particularly bad spell prior to a sacking, 1-9-8. That aside though seems to have a pretty good record with an average over 40% win rate.

Of the various managers linked with us he is potentially one of the most interesting so would be happy enough. His profile might also be well received by players we already have and those we are looking to bring in.

Lets hope we will have an announcement soon and it is not media BS.

apologies if i should know this- how much is Marti's contract to buy out assuming we could not negotiate down?

Well at least folks seem to be being proportionate and reserving judgement.

He starts with a blank sheet of paper as far as I'm concerned. He's not a chump and he's not the messiah.... he's simply our gaffer.

I don't give a monkeys' about his track record, appearance, charsima, demeanour and "buzz" about him. I just want him to set us up positively on the front foot, play with energy and get after teams, particularly at LR, and win near 20 games next season.

If he does that then job's a good 'un BUT if he fails on any of those fronts he has to come under scrutiny and expect to face criticism. Let's see how he's going a dozen games in.

Note to Nourry: do NOT get seduced into extending his contract during his two year stay. Manager contracts aren't like player contracts and they can eff off and do the dirty on us even when supposedly contractually "tied" to us. The manager either wants to be here or doesn't want to be here.... you can't buy their loyalty.

Yeah my comments were sport based.

Culturally there's a whole melting pot of national pride to wade into, but for another chat!

I've recently been to Toulon and found the same. In one bar was asked why I wasn't ordering in French. So I had to get the headphones out and learn how to speak from Google translate. We had a good laugh about my accent and how I said things, but the message was loud and clear. Even if visiting France, you need to fit in with us!! I fully bought into it and gave it my best shot which they were happy with. It's only polite to make some sort of effort on the basics. I found waitresses extremely rude in Marseille if you werent fluent French. But fair play.....they have pride their culture. My mate lives over there in a rural area and gets quite frustrated when bar owners have made their money for the day and close up to spend time with families.

I read the summary of his footballing style, which I posted, with dread. Another cautious defensive european manager. I hope I dont get into a trance snd fall asleep during games.

    To sum up the French;

Very competent at many things, when they get it right, they really get it right, bread for example. But arrogance can bleed into things, prides come before a fall, they don't like to admit they are wrong, Citroens for example.

Sport is life. name nearly any sport and you'll find a Frenchie near the top. They are excellent at bringing on youth, the clubs and support given from local and national government is insane, i would suggest world leading. They are excellent under pressure, it's a cultural thing, across all sports but especially football, rugby, tennis and alpine sports like skiing. Not sure on the relevance here but it's pretty cool how much it's valued.

Never heard of this dude, i don't follow French football at all.

The new manager had a 17 game losing streak? Is that true? He seems to have had success as well mind you.

He does face a difficult task however if we can recruit a bit better Madsen did ok near the end of the season not sure if Celar will pull a shirt on Frey can't stay fit and neither can Kolli will Kelman be given a shot at cf we need a goals Chair had probably his worst season not fit and tbh dreadful at times didn't help JCS never fit Morrison similar but did reasonably well we've got some faces to come back but we also need some durability coming in imo

    Stephan’s style

Stephan is known to have a possession-based style, seeing Pep Guardiola as an influence, while he is also a self-confessed fan of Mauricio Sarri. Stephan’s preferred formation at Rennes was 4-1-4-1 with a high-quality holding midfielder, but he has also regularly played with 4-2-3-1 and 4-4-2. You can expect a holding midfielder to be a priority for Stephan.

The good news for QPR fans is that Stephan is also a realist, and that’s a quality that is vital in the Championship. The Frenchman once admitted: “It is not possible to play Guardiola everywhere.” A short passing game is how Stephan likes his teams to operate, while they can be cautious in nature. QPR fans can expect a patient approach and not one that is gung-ho in the pursuit of goals. Stephan clearly weighs the risks of being aggressive in each game and is very opponent-specific in his approach.
