I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

I 3rd it, a diatribe of googled boring facts and figures, that I am just not interested in.

        Humour rules OK.
I have supported Rangers for 55 seasons, since March 1969.

WOW! That's rude! He is one of the few on here that talk sense. Even backs up his arguments with some facts/research. Not like most of the bell ends on here that talk out of their #### and just like a good old moan up. Carry on keyboard warriors!

I'm ok with it mate, ultimately, I can't blame them. People don't like numbers or facts or information, it's how they're wired.

People want controversy, they want to put their own views forward and the most important thing to them is that people agree with them. If someone disagrees and tries to back it up, they're a nerd who can't get girls, they're boring, dull, putting people off.

They don't get bored or disinterested, they just can't find validation for their points so they resort to insults in the hope that people find it funny enough to back them up.

Not to say jokes or stuff like that aren't funny, but insults and personal stuff isn't particularly good to hear. But whatever, each to their own, let them say what they want and hope that I care enough about their opinion on me to get me to change my posts and be more cynical or whatever.

I find it ludicrous that suddenly we HAVE to set up in a traditional 4-4-2, presumably because Iceland did OK and Leicester won the prem. And maybe because at the Euros some defences had forgotten how to cope with more than one up top.

At this stage, the guv'nor has to look at our playing resources and find a workable Plan A and Plan B that will see us through large parts of the season. Naz and I disagree about this but you have to cut according to your cloth. So for instance - just an example - if you are blessed with pace and playing a team that likes to press high, you are going to try and get in behind them, make them turn. So with pace something like 4-2-4 can be very effective against a team that loads the mid park and so on.

We need two set ups that our players can cope with, they need to be familiar with both, and be able to switch in play if necessary. That really is about it as far as we're concerned.

Why don't we buy to suit a system rather than come up with a workable plan?

I actually agree with you on that to a degree. I made the point in my long post that the winning teams rarely stuck to one formation. I think that if we want to succeed in the long run, we need to set a standard formation but have a secondary choice for matches against teams we need to change up for. Switching between a 1 striker and 2 striker formation will be necessary but the identity of the club should be based around a single ideology.

Aren't they both the same thing? Coming up with a workable plan to be our long term system which we will then buy players for. That looks like what we're doing to be honest.

Actually I have a research paper on that which begs to differ

It seems like (from what JFH has said) we're going to play a high pressing 4231 as our main formation.

Think we probably will set up this way, but does worry me that we are a fair few players off this yet.

Need 2 wingers minimum as the current crop need to be back up at best imho.

CAM - Need cover for Chery as cant expect him to play every game and be effective in every game.

Personally think Polts will be effective in this system. Not sure about Connor though, so perhaps another Striker.

Always think this formation allows the full backs to get further up the pitch as they have decent cover in the 2 CDM, so will need another RB unless Furlong as vastly improved.
