I don't disagree, IMHO, apart from not being the most gifted technically, he's also not the most intelligent player. He runs towards the byeline with his head down and doesn't seem to be aware of where his teamates are. My point was, while I can see certain situations where I can understand why JFH would bring him on, today wasn't one of them.

Mackie got promoted with QPR played for the shirt and actually produced when olaying for us in the top flight. Right now he's a decent squad player who can be relied on when needed. As said nothing more but for some reason is becoming a scapegoat to moan about.
I'm more than fair with my comments and judgment and hoilett is playing well as and I have said fair play.
However he still can't cross a ball to save his life and yes we should be cautious about his up turn in form a few weeks before his deal runs out. Would be careless for the club not to think where has this side of hoilett been for the last 36 months.
1) So did Hoilett, in fact he was crucial to a particular moment at Wembley.
2) They could ask the 3 Managers who gave up on him.
You're right he's been a huge disappointment until this year, but maybe JFH has seen something and decided to work with & get the best out of him. And being paid £40k isn't down to the player solely. Only IMO and I could be wrong, but I hope not. If he goes in the Summer, fine, he goes. But I doubt there are 2 better wingers in the Championship than Hoilett & Phillips when on form. If we're seriouws about aiming for promotion next season, we'll need to keep some players. We can't keep starting with 12 new players every season. I do agree if he stays it should be within our new wages structure, which I believe is £20k around half his current deal.

With the way hoilett is playing now I'd be happy to see us sign him up but as long as it's to sensible terms. Within our pricing structure of 15-20k and no more than a 2 year deal. Maybe with a clause to activate another 1 year deal if the club decide.Originally posted by QPR1976 View Post1) So did Hoilett, in fact he was crucial to a particular moment at Wembley.

What a pointless and rather churlish comment... I think that it's a perfectly valid observation from the OP and I wonder how the lad's confidence is going to be affected the longer he goes without much of a chance or indeed a goal... We seemed to have spent a few quid on him so they must have rated the guy... does seem a little odd and especially so as I for one wouldn't be that upset if Mackie left and wasn't here next season as he doesn't appear to offer much these days...Originally posted by 3London View PostIN other news we won..with our best result of the season!

Exactly, I would rather us keep him on a longer contract than go out and put transfer and wage costs on someone we can't guarantee will perform, while we know hoilett can perform for us.Originally posted by QPR1976 View Post1) So did Hoilett, in fact he was crucial to a particular moment at Wembley.

Good point. Perhaps he is still seen as a League 1 standard player with scope for improvement.Originally posted by Shania View PostMaybe the coaches have decided that they need to work more on his supposed weaknesses in traning before people start to slate him during matches, perhaps. Just a though.

Both of them have provided assists and goals this season and can do so again next.
If Hoilett is prepared to accept a £20k pw deal he is worth keeping.
As for Washington, he needs time to adapt but seems to have potential to do so.
He needs some more game time and yesterday was a perfect game for him to participate in. i hope he gets more chances before the end of the season. Bringing on Mackie makes very little sense to me.

Spot on B!!.... buzzing about the 3 points, not about beating some sort of boy scouts team btw (sorry just cant get excited about that non team).. but buzzing about the 3 points and back to back wins. But did find it very odd/disappointing that Mackie got a run out and Washington didnt. Think the questions got to be asked, why?Originally posted by BuffooneRy View PostWhat a pointless and rather churlish comment...
