Fans say they want decent Champ players but it just isn't going to happen for the sorts of figures being banded around nowadays.
How much was Alex Smithies then? Can't have cost more than Connor Washington.

I was predicting all sorts of crazy victories at the start oof the season as I was filled with unbridled optimism, so am unsure why you are labelling me a negative fan. Yes I don't really see this signing improving the team so I query what the benefit is.
Apologies for getting the month and year wrong.

How can you be disappointed when you haven't seem him play?! I do not understand!
You haven't answered my question by providing an alternative solution to our current situation and tactic in signing players whilst we balance the books... If you don't have one then no problem but I just don't understand the slating with no alternative solution or option

        Undisclosed, no idea.

I probably should of specified that I was talking about outfield players.

Although that's the common sense approach, what I find hard to understand is how many people on here assume that next season we will have a right go at promotion given the type of players we are signing. The championship next season will almost certainly be tougher than this.

I agree about balancing the books, it is a bit of a rubbish position we got ourselves into and hopefully going forward we pay more performnace related pay to prevent this reoccurring. This chap could be amazing, I have no idea I haven't seen him play. But going off his stats (I know these can be flawed!) he will struggle to score the same number of goals in a higher league. As Austin has gone, I would rather take a punt on someone who is scoring 30+ goals in the conference (though I would like to see Blackwood get a chance, as I have no idea how good he is).

              He is not a striker

At least you have given some kind of solution even if it is contradictory in your view to your El Khayati.
Conference players with healthy stats and Tyler Blackwood over league 1 players with healthy stats is one of the craziest things I've seen someone put on here as an alternative solution but each to their own opinions I suppose!

Having a look at the scorers in non-league football I would prefer to go for Kristian Dennis (again never seen him play, but his stats show he has an eye for goal)

I don't get it either mate. I don't think we should be pushing for promotion just yet at all. I realise that means us losing games and all that yada yada, but I'd rather we concentrated on getting our finances in order, assembling a good team that will get used to playing together over a few years, and then maybe go for it. Bournemouth did it, Leicester did it, Norwich did it, why can't we? Fark all this going straight for promotion within a couple of seasons bowlarks. Let's get our finances sorted first.

Cannot believe that I have actually seen a fan just say they would prefer a non-league striker to one of the best players from the team top of League 1

Actually his main position is attacking midfield.

He can also play on either wing as secondary positions, and because he's two-footed.

Fair play mate. Some media outlets call him a striker but he generally plays attacking midfield or out wide. Not an out and out striker

We're doomed! There are no decent lower league players so let's spend millions on more rejects and players who only want big salaries. Sorted.
