Pretty sure they have brought him in for back up as they are going for that Van Dyk from Celtic too

How is this a great deal? Southampton have got shed loads of cash, we could of sold him to West Brom for 5 million and got a decent replacement with that. What can you get with 1.3 mil? You really think Southampton will sign him for 8 mil next season your having a laugh. Is that circus music I hear playing?Comment

It's a good deal, because:
- he hasn't been that good
- he's probably on a lot of money
- we are now getting all of that paid for a year + 1.3 million fee
- we have the opportunity to further improve the clubs finances by replacing with a decent defender at a much lower cost
- within the coaching system @ Southampton he may well be able to improve - and then come back to us an improved player
- if he has a good season with Southampton his value will not decrease - it may go up (reducing, or even completely removing the possible loss on the £8 we initially shelled out if we then decide to sell him)
...the caveat being, of course, IF we can find someone.
If we can't.....then it's not such a good deal. Lot of if's , obviously...Comment

Caulker is a rotten, s hit player who'll be terrible at Soton. But we can't go into a season with only two CBs. And no decent RB and one ordinary LB. Its f acking nuts. Everyone one on here knows how poor we are at the back. What on earth are the management playing at???Comment

As you say, it becomes a good deal if we get in a couple of good enough replacements. Which shouldnt be hard given that Caulker is sh!te.Top Scorers 2018/2019
