Thanks for everything Greeno...but time now for McCarthy?

Green doesn't inspire confidence..think it is time to say goodbye. Not sure McCarthy is the answer though...looked equally dodgy at times in some of the games he played this season.

Think over the course of the WHOLE SEASON Greens been tops and kept us in more than enough games, also we've picked up points purely down to him... BUT come next season no matter what division we're in we need to play McCarthy. Nothing to do with today but next season is all about afresh start (again), we'll have a new manager (again) and its time to have a clear out (again) and look to the future and the future is McCarthy.

No Nick no excuses I am afraid so please don't offer any. Keepers job in its most basic form is keep goal out of net and kick it. He was not under any pressure from the kick, not like it was a back pass, it was a b loody kick from hand. There is no excuses for what he done neither should we be making any for him its simply not good enough

Well off the top of my head Green errors recently in games :

Hull away - Hull second goal (came flying out got nowhere near the cross we lost 2-1 )
Arsenal at home - Arsenal second goal (beaten at near post lost 2-1)
Spurs at home - Spurs first goal (came flying out got nowhere near the ball lost 2-1)
Chelsea at home Chelsea goal ( terrible kick which lost us game 1-0 )
Crystal Palace away - Palace second goal ( palms a cross/shot across goal to give a tap in Lost 3-1 )

If you want to look at in points terms that is 4 he cost us. On all those goals pretty sure tv commentators said he should have done better as well. Am sure people will debate those goals being his error but all pretty clear to me.

Green is a good shot-stopper, but he is without doubt the worst keeper in the Premier League and probably even the Championship for using his feet. He never looks comfortable. I won't criticise him, though, because he's done well for us - especially in the Championship. But I think it's time to give Alex McCarthy a chance next season

Green can go to the scum now makes a mistake every game, the same at Villa asked the wall not to jump and they score because he could not get there, made some great saves but a lot of mistakes.

Not sure you can blame Isla for Green kicking the ball straight up in the air.

You're right, Isla did switch off. What an idiot for thinking his keeper could produce a simple clearing kick.

Next season is a different story but for now he should stay, Hazard didn't switch off did he? You come alive when the ball is dead!

Agree wests no way am I making 'any excuses'!!! I feel completely drained and extremely focked off and its all down to utter stupidity, a completely preventable mistake from Green, so please dont think Im making any excuses for him!!... All I was doing west is pointing out that over the 'whole season' hes been 1 of if not our best player, thats all!!

But he's right and there are more errors from this season

Have we all forgotten he miss kicked at Everton too that resulted in them scoring at theirs!!!!! these are not one offs when it comes to Green their is a clanger from him every match of some sorts

I put stat up on another thread he has made more errors that lead to goals then any other keeper in the league what do you say to that???

If you asked 100 football fans what their views of Green are I would hazard a guess a good 90% would say makes errors that is what he is known for

Greens kicking out of his hands has always been suspect. He normally looks to drop it and kick it but Drogba kept staying with him to make him kick it. He made at least 3 mistakes with kicks today putting us under unnecessary pressure. Its pretty shocking to be honest, in modern football kicking is a massive part of a goalkeepers game and Green really struggles with this. I won't knock his shot stopping and general saving ability as he has been important for us in that regards.

What don't you understand ?? Watch it back again, Green kicks it up in the air but it doesn't come straight back at him, it goes out to the byline and Isla totally switches of and leaves Hazard to take a pass fro Oscar. Bad kick - Yes, poor defending that led to the goal - Yes
