Interesting tweet from Barton here.. during the match you could also see after the 3rd Benteke goal Barton was having a chat with Green

I have to agree with Joey here. That free kick was pretty much unstoppable as it was perfectly placed near post and Green has to cover the far post. The only chance would have been for somebody taller to have been in the wall. If players jump then the ball can go under them and then the keeper has absolutely no chance.

We shouldn't have conceded the foul to start with.

Someone on the post and we would of had all three points and stayed up imo. Thats how tight the margins are.

Why didn't Caulker clear the ball properly? Powder puff swing that "cleared" the ball all the way to the edge of our box

Aston Villa deserved at least a point.

Our loss of points were at home to Hull (1 point - Austin penalty miss with 5 mins left), Swansea ( 2 points- allowing Bony to score in the last minute) and Liverpool ( 1 point - Fer should have kept the ball instead of putting the ball to the back post where there were only red shorts which lead to a break and a loss)

Those 4 points coupled with Hull having 2 less would see us in a very good position.

I'm sure other sides can also say they should have done this or that but those are all categoric #### ups on our part, especially Hull and Liverpool.

              Absolutely spot on.

Expecting a keeper to be able to cover the entire goal is ridiculous. But as we have said elsewhere, this team hasn't a clue about defending.

Do teams ever do this or am I having a brain ####? The issue possibly with having someone on the post is that he will play everyone onside for the potential follow up?

Exactly this! add a blatant hand ball by aguero in the man city game for their equaliser. and the late goal at hull we would all be thinking about our summer hols now!

                  fine margins

not to forget 4 serious knee injuries..its fair to say we haven't had the best of fortune.

If everyone had this vision of defending then we would see games ending up goalless every week. Benteke scored a fantastic goal and that is all there is to it, a real shame but credit where its due, a draw was the correct result in this one. As others have said, the missed pen against Hull, the late goals against Hull, Swansea, Southampton, Liverpool etc is where we have dropped the points and made mistakes.....last nights was deserved and a fantastic strike. We are at least giving it a good go this time and we might just do it but its going to be close either way.

Someone on the post plays all the Villa players onside behind the wall ready for a rebound.

We were unlucky that Benteke hit a world class free kick that's all.

You never get offside from a fee kick though, cos they are all in line with the wall, and benteke only had one thing on his mind to shoot for goal. Would of been great to have austin in that post,
