What has Ferdinand said or done to suggest he'd be any good at the 'proper scouting and developing' role you're talking about though. People who have excelled in that role have a totally different skillset (that's a polite way of saying Les doesn't strike me as the sharpest in the shed, he never offers any interesting insight into the game). Who had heard of Dan Ashton five years ago? Txiki Beristigian, Michael Emenalo, etc. These guys are professionals doing a very demanding, specialised role.

The people you mentioned had to start somewhere and had no experience when they first started so all we can hope for is that Ferdinand can do a similar job for us

We all know TF philosophy is to buy loads of players but this appointment is hopefully a small step in the right direction of putting a structure in place at the end of the day this sort of thing should have happened when he first took over but it's better late than never

Really? A man who has never managed before? Much as I loved Lesley Ferdinand as a player for us, I wouldn't want him as our manager. I agree with poster above that it is in part a PR stunt. In reality, haven't we got enough bloody 'chiefs' already? Harry, Bond, Jordan, Hoddle and now Sir Les. I mean, FFS, what is going on with this club? I honestly don't get this appointment at all (apart from the PR angle)... still, I guess we'll see pretty soon..

at this moment in time I am feeling so disgrutled with Redknapp and his merry men... I would be over the moon with any change to be honest...

They're tactically naive and a continuation of this outdated 'old school' mentality that Arry epitomises. Sherwood said Makelele the worst thing that happened to the Prem, that #10s don't exist and are just strikers who can't score, and has no ####ing ideas in general. Like Arry he got away with sending Spurs out with no plan due to the quality of their squad, and like Arry he'll get find out if he's forced to work with what we've got here.

Go for a manager with pedigree, not these opportunists and cowboys.
