Although I agree that there is potential where Carroll is concerned, I think that his shortcomings right now are too noticeable for a permanent deal - another loan I'd be happy with. The thing with Carroll is, he doesn't score or assist in anywhere near enough goals to be considered an attacking midfielder or a playmaker, and he isn't tenacious and mobile enough to be considered a water carrier. If we do look into bringing him back permanently, HR really needs to have a good think about what role he sees Carroll having with us.

Toure bullies most midfielders, and I doubt he'd get bullied by ramires. The championship is alot more physical than the premier league and he will probably be more suited to the premier lge rather than the championship.Tom Carroll over the next two/three yrs will bulk up naturally and get stronger, players like Carrick, Modric, Ramires and Fletcher were all physically similar to ltc when they were in their early twenties and look at them now.Lets not make the same mistake we keep making as a nation and let a players size be a factor in whether he's any good.

Ramires modric etc have not bulked up their still slight players. Ramires would run rings round Carroll too and make him look like a kid. If he could pass the ball forwards you might have a small point on investing some time on him but he can't. Would rather invest the effort in samba who if we could sort him out could be like a new signing then bring in Someone just because they tick the young player box

Exactly he's not a kid anymore he's a young man still trying to break into a team players younger then him have been tearing it up at this WC now that's potential. At what point does potential turn into he's not going to make it???
