The 35-year-old has been persuaded to take a massive drop in wages after hearing Harry Redknapp’s plans for how he can help the London club on their return to the Premier League.

It is believed his salary is less than a third of his £200,000-a-week salary at Manchester United.

I realize this is not the most reliable source but it does suggest he will be on around 60K-65K per week. My guess is that is pretty close to the truth. If he helps us to stay up it will be money well spent. The key is for it to be a one year deal.

Genuine question for everyone though? What makes anybody in their right mind think that Rio Ferdinand, (or any other player for that matter), would be happy for their salary details and the insertion or not of various clauses, bonuses, to be divulged by their employers to the national press or various football fans.

Maybe I'm just naive. Or maybe as Richard alluded to, it's just a mixture of wild guesses and total fabrication.

According to Ric-Roc they are far more accurate than the Daily Fail, and suffice to say most people here trust his ITK track record over theirs.

No one knows what he is on. One thing I find amusing is that some posters love agreeing with the press when it looks like positive news and always disagree when they write negative stuff or vise versa subject to what agenda you're siding with; humorous really.

And you can't say for sure those reports are accurate either. Bottom line is no one really know except those associated with the club.

Mind you, of course Harry is going to say we got Rio on the cheap. He's hardly likely to say "oh yer, he's costing us £80k a week". We'd get slaughtered in the media and held to ransom by every player we tried to sign. Agents would have a field day.

What we know for certain is that Pompey are in League Two now.

And Harry managed them. And spent a lot of money that they didn't have.

I hope you're right Stanley but I have about 177 million reasons to be concerned! But Tony does seem to have tightened things up to where they need to be.
