Sorry if stating the obvious, but on somewhere like Betfair, as well as backing a particular thing to happen, you can also back against it happening.

Most common example is laying the draw at the start of a match. If a goal is scored, odds on draw usually get longer, so you can back that and be in profit regardless of the outcome.

I think in both Rhodes and Austins case should they both not make the step up, they will at least have a decent sell on value, unlike Zamora and Johnson who we picked up in their twilight years, and are basically worth zilch.

Cant see Tony splashing out on this French lad and Rhodes. You'd prob be looking at anywhere between 13 - 18 mill for the both giving the valuations being banded about.
I say get the French kid, leave Rhodes to the summer, 6 months more of his contract and we are a premier team

£8m to £12m for a player who may not make it in the Prem is a massive gamble for us - if we go up obviously! If we don't go up then we end up like Blackburn; with an expensive player who cannot guarantee us promotion. If we are interested then HR must believe Rhodes can play at the top. If it's just normal gossip and we don't buy him, then one might assume HR does not think he'll make it. Obviously we might not be able to afford him too which is why we don't buy him!

Until someone takes a punt you can't say for sure. There's been plenty of players who are outstanding in the championship but when it came to making the step up have just not delivered.
At 12 mill its a.expensive punt to take. But one I think you'd get a return on as I rate the lad.

Charlie's got the right attitude to make it in my eyes. The boys got the talent and work ethic. I think Rhodes will make it too just @ 12 mill its a big investment to gamble on. One I'd love to see though
