The reason for the 'boa' is that it is taken from the Hammersmith and Fulham crest, showing where we are from:

So basically the current badge is an amalgamation of the old Hammersmith and Fulham one and the 70s one, both of which we've had people say they'd like us to return to/take elements from....

Yes, but it's far easier to dislike it because it resembles Briatore's hair.

                Exactly my thought too.

Looking at old badges is interesting but in the podcast that Stanley posted, Tony made it pretty clear that the badge is "going in a new direction". So, it sounds as though it will be another new one, not a return of an old one.
'Only a Ranger!' cried Gandalf. 'My dear Frodo, that is just what the Rangers are: the last remnant in the South of the great people, the Men of West London.' - Lord of the Rings, Book II, Chapter I - Many Meetings.

Any talk of who's going to design it?

IMO we the fans need as much input as possible.

Ha!!!, that'll f*ck up a few arguments regarding the crest. All i've seen is "i don't like the curly bits" normally followed by "it ain't us", sometimes followed by "get the Hammersmith crest back."
Seems Flav and the Mittals (all those who keep saying it was Flav's crest) had more idea on QPR's identity than some of our fans!!!!

                      So true.
No-one has said that don't like the new badge, because it reminds too much the old Hammersmith badge.

Well that crest was before my time, but it is still part of the Hammersmith crest
